Lehigh Valley - off day
Reading 3, Portland 2
Severino Gonzalez - 7 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 3 GB, 9 FB, WP
Ken Giles - 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, K
Carlos Alonso - 2 for 5, R, RBI, K
Cesar Hernandez - 1 for 4, BB, K
Cam Perkins - 3 for 5, 2 2B
Aaron Altherr - 0 for 4, RBI, BB
Anthony Hewitt - 0 for 5, 4 K
Brock Stassi - 2 for 5, 2 R, K
Albert Cartwright - 3 for 3, 2B, RBI, BB, SB
After a rough first inning, Severino settled in nicely, never getting into too much trouble. This was a much better outing than his last time out. Ken Giles, noooooo! You aren't allowed to give up hits and runs. We need you ASAP in Philly!! I can't help but laugh at what Perkins has done so far this season. I know its only 23 games, but his slash line is .382/.427/.596 through 89 at bats. And that has actually come down significantly over the past week or so. Reading took a 3-2 lead by getting a run an inning in the 6th, 7th and 8th.
Brevard County 7, Clearwater 6 (11 innings)
Colin Kleven - 3.2 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, K
Luis Paulino - 2.1 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K (throwing error)
Ramon Oviedo - 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 K
Colton Murray - 2.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB
KC Serna - 2 for 5, 2 R, 2B, K
Peter Lavin - 2 for 5, R, RBI
Harold Martinez - 2 for 5, 2B, HR, 3 RBI, K
Brian Pointer - 1 for 4, HR
After an embarrassing 20-0 defeat, Clearwater put up a fight before losing in extras. Brian Pointer with an inside the park home run and Harold Martinez picks up his 2nd HR of the season. Another disappointing loss for the Threshers. I know winning isn't at all important in minor league ball, but you have to imagine being 5-21 is a little hard on the psyche for some of these young players. Colin Kleven makes a not too decent return after a stint on the DL, but Paulino allows 5 runs in the 6th to spoil even those efforts.
Lakewood, Lexington (ppd due to rain)
