Buffalo 8, Lehigh Valley 4

Greg Smith - 5 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 6 GB, 4 FB, WP
Justin De Fratus - 1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, WP
Ethan Martin - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, K
Tyler Henson - 0 for 5, K
Maikel Franco - 1 for 3, HR, BB
Darin Ruf - 1 for 4, HR
Cameron Rupp - 0 for 3, R, BB, 3 K
Leandro Castro - 2 for 4, HR, 2 RBI, K

After a glorious start to the season, Greg Smith has hit a wall. He has now given up 15 ER in his last 23.2 IP, allowing 9 walks and 30 hits. Spoke too soon about De Fratus? He now has consecutive outings giving up at least a run. Both Smith and De Fratus hit batters in the game as well. Franco and Ruf hit back-to-back homers, their 4th and 1st, respectively on the season. That's about the only positive outcome in the game. Castro did have a multi-hit game, but is still batting a woeful .225/.312/.333. The Iron Pigs hope to tie up the series this afternoon.

Reading 5, New Hampshire 3 (Game 1 of doubleheader)

Perci Garner - 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 10 GB, 2 FB
Tyler Knigge - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Albert Cartwright - 2 for 3, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, K, SB, HBP
Brock Stassi - 0 for 2, 2 BB, K, SB
Cam Perkins - 0 for 3, RBI, K, SB
Chris Serritella - 0 for 3, 3 K
Zach Collier - 1 for 2, R, BB
Sebastian Valle - 1 for 1 (pinch hitter)

Despite going 0 for 10 with RISP, the Fightin's pull together 5 runs on 5 hits to win it. Perci Garner with a very good game (minus the walks). Perkins steals his 6th base and Albert Cartwright has a MONSTER game. Chris Serritella has struck out 8 times in his last 11 at bats and 15 in his last 31. He may be in a bit of a funk.

Reading 3, New Hampshire 2 (Game 2 of doubleheader, makeup of 4/7 ppd)

Ryan Demmin - 4 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 GB, 2 FB (fielding error)
Colton Murray - 3 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, BB, 4 K (pickoff error)
Austin Wright - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, K
Albert Cartwright - 2 for 4, R
Brock Stassi - 1 for 3, 2 RBI, BB
Cam Perkins - 2 for 3, 2B, BB
Sebastian Valle - 0 for 4, K
Aaron Altherr - 2 for 4, R

Journeyman Ryan Demmin makes a start after coming out of the bullpen his first two appearances. Colton Murray in relief has been fantastic all season. He hasn't given up an earned run in 5 IP since being called up from Clearwater. For the Threshers in 17.2 IP, he only gave up 4 ER while striking out 17. Cam Perkins OBP is still an insane .419 (over 153 at bats). This game went into extra innings (normal 7 inning doubleheader game) after Reading tied it at 2-2 via an RBI single from Brock Stassi. The Fightin's would win the game in the bottom of the 8th with a walkoff RBI single from the recently promoted Anthony Phillips.

Charlotte 7, Clearwater 6 (12 innings)

Jon Prosinski - 5 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 6 ER, BB, 7 K, HR, 3 GB, 3 FB
Roman Quinn - 0 for 4, R, K, SB, HBP
KC Serna - 2 for 6, R, K
Peter Lavin - 2 for 5, 2B, RBI, BB, 2 K (two outfield assists, 2B & home)
Art Charles - 3 for 5, 2 R, BB
Andrew Knapp - 0 for 4, R, RBI, 2 BB, 2 K
Gabriel Lino - 2 for 5, 2 RBI, BB, 2 K
Brian Pointer - 1 for 5, HR, 2 RBI

The prodigal son has returned! Roman Quinn returns from a ruptured Achilles tendon that has kept him out of games since October of last year. The noted speed demon stole his first base last night, of which I'm sure are many to come. The dimunitive Threshers have had little luck in the winning department this season. Jon Prosinski didn't help their plight and surrendered 6 runs through the first 4 innings to put Clearwater in a 6-0 hole. Obviously, Clearwater would come by to tie it to force extra innings. Jeb Stefan, after pitching 2 innings prior, allowed the winning run to score in the bottom of the 12th. Brian Pointer hits his 3rd home run on the season. This team is actually starting to resemble a baseball team worth keeping tabs on. There is still very little to be excited about for the pitching side, but with Lavin, Knapp, Lino, Pointer and now Quinn, the Threshers have a halfway decent lineup. They could even see a Mitch Walding promotion in the near future as well. Also worth noting that Peter Lavin now has 11 outfield assists. That is like...really good if you are into that sort of thing.

Rome 4, Lakewood 3

Tyler Viza - 4 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 K, 5 GB, 4 FB
Delvi Francisco - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K
JP Crawford - 2 for 4, 2 R, BB, CS (throwing error)
Andrew Pullin - 1 for 3, RBI, BB
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 4, R (fielding error)
Wilmer Oberto - 2 for 4, 2B, 2 RBI
Willians Astudillo - 2 for 4, K
Mitch Walding - 0 for 3, BB, K
Samuel Hiciano - 0 for 4, K
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 3, BB
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 4, 3 K (2 fielding errors)

Sloppy fielding game from the Blue Claws as they drop another game (16-26). They don't have his pitch count, but a little curious that Tyler Viza only goes 4 innings, despite not walking anyone. JP Crawford returns from a finger injury and has two hits and a walk. Crawford has a 1:1 walk to strikeout ratio (21:21). He did however pick up his 6th caught stealing attempt and 9th error. Jan Hernandez had a no good very bad day.
