Like an overnight thunderstorm that strikes without warning came news that has the potential to both destroy the 2014 season and future seasons as well.
Cliff Lee had an MRI on left elbow today. Awaiting further details. Will update.

Of course, further details are not available, but as noted by Crashburn Alley a few days ago, Cliff Lee's velocity has been down recently.

Amaro said Cliff Lee pitched through some soreness for last 3 weeks or so, but tenderness in elbow "a little more uncomfortable" on Sunday.

Cliff just joined the team in Miami, per Ruben, and is still technically in play for this weekend. "Cliff hates being hurt," RAJ said.

Hopefully, the news is not as dire as it could be. Hopefully Lee is just experiencing some soreness and some rest will help him heal.
But if Lee is seriously hurt, and if this yet another Tommy John surgery in the making, the Phillies will not only lose the pitcher that gives them the best chance to win this year, but will also cost them their best potential trade chip at the July 31 deadline.
We'll have more information on this breaking story as it develops. In the meantime, let's all panic.
