Toledo 7, Lehigh Valley 3 (May 23, 2014)

Brad Lincoln - 5 IP, 10 H, 5 R, 5 ER, BB, 6 K, 4 GB, 2 FB
Seth Rosin - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, K
Cesar Jimenez - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB
Justin De Fratus - 1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, K
Ethan Martin - 1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER
Tyson Gillies - 1 for 5, 2 K
Tyler Henson - 2 for 4, R, 2 K, SB
Maikel Franco - 1 for 4, RBI
Cameron Rupp - 1 for 4, HR, K
Leandro Castro - 1 for 4, HR (outfield assist, 2B)

Not sure Brad Lincoln even knows what the Phillies want to do with him. His last outing he walked a bunch of batters, but this time he outdid himself with 10 hits. The bullpen was really no better, but the damage had already been done. Rupp launches his 5th of the season and Leandro adds his 3rd. The rest of the offense was largely punchless.

Lehigh Valley 1, Toledo 0 (May 24, 2014)

Chris Bootcheck - 5 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K, 3 GB, 6 FB
Phillippe Aumont - 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 K
Jeremy Horst - 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Ken Giles - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Tyson Gillies - 1 for 3, BB, K
Tyler Henson - 2 for 3
Cameron Rupp - 0 for 4, 2 K

Chris Bootcheck makes his Lehigh debut with mildly positive results. He was nothing short of a disaster at all stops at the major league level. Aumont and Giles provide excellent relief and neither walk a batter! Giles did hit a batter though (ouch to that guy). All the offensive run support came on a run scoring fielders choice with Addison Maruszak at bat.

Toledo 4, Lehigh Valley 0 (May 25, 2014)

Greg Smith - 7 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 7 K, HR, 7 GB, 5 FB
Jeremy Horst - 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
Ethan Martin - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K
Tyson Gillies - 0 for 4, K
Tyler Henson - 0 for 3, BB, 2 K, CS, picked off
Leandro Castro - 1 for 4

Greg Smith with a quality start, strikes out 7...and gets the loss. The absence of Maikel Franco here seems to hurt. Ethan Martin with a solid inning of work. Iron Pigs offense only musters 3 hits on the day. Lehigh drops the series 3-1 to Toledo and is outscored 21-9.

Reading 2, Akron 1 (12 innings, May 23, 2014)

Hoby Milner - 6.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 8 GB, 2 FB
Tyler Knigge - 2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 K
Nefi Ogando - 1 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 2 K
Brock Stassi - 2 for 3, RBI, 2 BB, HBP
Cam Perkins - 0 for 3, BB (outfield assist, home)
Sebastian Valle - 0 for 4, BB
Aaron Altherr - 0 for 5, K (fielding error)

Hoby Milner pitches a fantastic game and the Fightin's go on to win in the 12th. The game was scoreless through the first 11 innings before Reading would put 2 across the plate via a Edgar Duran solo home run and a Brock Stassi RBI single. Ogando would make it interesting in the bottom of the 12th, when he would walk in a run, after walking the bases loaded. Altherr continues his funk and you have to wonder if he is even healthy at this point. Perkins essentially saves the game in the 8th inning by throwing a runner out at home.

Reading 3, Akron 2 (12 innings, May 24, 2014)

Perci Garner - 6 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 12 GB, 2 FB, WP (missed catch error)
Colton Murray - 3 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 K
Hector Neris - 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, K
Brock Stassi - 1 for 4, RBI
Cam Perkins - 2 for 5, K (outfield assist, home)
Aaron Altherr - 2 for 5, 2B
Sebastian Valle - 1 for 5, R, K

Another fantastic game from Garner, who kept the ball on the ground and limited offensive opportunities. Reading was down 2-0 after 6 innings, but would tie it at 2 after the 8th. The game would go into extras, when Reading would score the go-ahead and eventually winning run via a throwing error which would score Anthony Phillips after he had lead off the inning with a double.

Reading 3, Akron 0 (May 25, 2014)

Ryan Demmin - 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 7 K, 1 GB, 5 FB
Austin Wright - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, K
Tyler Knigge - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB
Nefi Ogando - 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB
Albert Cartwright - 2 for 5, K
Brock Stassi - 1 for 4, BB, K
Cam Perkins - 1 for 4, R, RBI, BB, K
Aaron Altherr -  2 for 4, R, 2 K, SB, CS

Ryan Demmin shuts Akron down in game 3 of the 4 game series that concludes on Memorial Day. Austin Wright with a solid couple innings of work. The Fightin's didn't need extra innings in this one to win. Nefi Ogando continues to struggle with his command. I guess I spoke too soon on Altherr? He has two multi-hit games in a row. You'd like to see some more patience at the plate, but the hits are nice nonetheless.

St. Lucie 6, Clearwater 2 (May 23, 2014)

Jeb Stefan - 5 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 4 GB, 6 FB
KC Serna - 2 for 4, R, 2B, RBI
Peter Lavin - 2 for 4
Andrew Knapp - 0 for 4
Brian Pointer - 0 for 3

Jeb Stefan gets another turn in the rotation after having his last 5 appearances being in relief. He had mixed results in this one, but the offense did nothing to help him. The woeful Threshers are 9-36.

Daytona 5, Clearwater 4 (May 24, 2014, game 1 of doubleheader)

Jon Prosinski - 2 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, K
Lee Ridenhour - 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 K, HR
Roman Quinn - 1 for 4, R, K, SB
KC Serna - 2 for 4, R, RBI, SB
Peter Lavin - 0 for 3
Gabriel Lino - 0 for 2, BB
Brian Pointer - 0 for 1, R, 2 BB

Jon Prosinski leaves the game early and unfortunately with a hole for the Threshers to dig out of. Clearwater actually comes back to tie the game up, but poor Ridenhour, who had pitched so well, gives up the eventual game winning HR in the 6th. Roman Quinn steals his 2nd base batting leadoff as the DH.

Daytona 8, Clearwater 4 (May 24, 2014, game 2 of doubleheader, makeup of 5/2 ppd)

Luis Paulino - 2.2 IP, 8 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 3 HR, 1 GB, 3 FB
Angelo Mora - 1 for 3, R
KC Serna - 2 for 2, 3 R, 2B, BB
Peter Lavin - 2 for 2, RBI, BB, CS
Andrew Knapp - 0 for 3, 3 K

The feast or famine of the 2014 season continues for Luis Paulino. You can see this was of the smorgasbord variety, as batters gobbled up everything he threw. Andrew Knapp has a golden sombrero and the entire lineup overall only contributes 5 hits. Threshers drop to 9-38 after the doubleheader.

Daytona 4, Clearwater 1 (May 25, 2014, game 1 of doubleheader)

Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez - 2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, K, 0 GB, 4 FB
Roman Quinn - 1 for 3, SB
KC Serna - 2 for 3 (fielding error)
Peter Lavin - 0 for 3, K
Art Charles - 2 for 3, R, 2B, HR
Gabriel Lino - 1 for 2, BB

At least MAG wasn't a complete disaster this time out, despite getting the loss. Roman Quinn picks up his 3rd stolen base in 5 games since returning from injury. KC Serna continues his surge at the plate and Art Charles blasts his 2nd homer of the season.

Clearwater 5, Daytona 2 (May 25, 2014, game 2 of doubleheader, makeup of 5/2 ppd)

Adam Loewen - 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 8 GB, 2 FB
KC Serna - 1 for 4, HR, 2 RBI, K
Peter Lavin - 2 for 4, HR
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 3, RBI
Brian Pointer - 0 for 3, K

The 10 game losing streak is over! Clearwater enters the double digit win column right before we flipped the calendar to June, just as I'm sure you all imagined it. KC Serna hits his 2nd HR on the season and Lavin adds his 6th. Andrew Knapp actually hits and doesn't strike out in a game. Adam Loewen make his Phillies organization debut. He is 30 years old and is likely gearing up for a fast rise to AAA. He has not had great results on the major league level.

West Virginia 8, Lakewood 6 (May 23, 2014)

Alejandro Arteaga - 3.2 IP, 11 H, 6 R, 6 ER, BB, 2 K, 4 GB, 2 FB
Carlos Tocci - 2 for 5, R, 3B, 3 K
Andrew Pullin - 1 for 4, 2 RBI, CS
JP Crawford - 2 for 5, K
Willians Astudillo - 1 for 5
Dylan Cozens - 2 for 5, 2 HR, K (outfield assist, 3B)
Mitch Walding - 0 for 4, R, BB, 2 K
Samuel Hiciano - 3 for 4, 2B, HR
Wilmer Oberto - 2 for 4, R, 2B
Deivi Grullon - 1 for 4, RBI

Arteaga is just really really bad. Blue Claw hitters did their best and had 14 hits on the day. Cozens with home runs number 6 and 7, while Hiciano adds his 5th. Tocci and Crawford also with multi-hit games.

Lakewood 7, West Virginia 0 (May 24, 2014)

Drew Anderson - 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 K, 6 GB, 1 FB
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 4, R, BB, K
Andrew Pullin - 3 for 5, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI
JP Crawford - 2 for 4, R, 2B, 2 RBI, BB
Willians Astudillo - 1 for 5, R
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 5 (outfield assist, 1B)
Mitch Walding - 4 for 5, HR, 3 RBI
Samuel Hiciano - 3 for 4, BB

The offense awakens! Back to back games of 14 hits for the Lakewood offense. They are backed by a superb effort from Drew Anderson, who is finding his groove. He is striking guys out and limiting hits. Good to see some success with pitchers on this Lakewood squad. Hiciano has back to back 3 hit games and Mitch Walding launches his first of the season on route to 4 hits in the game. Crawford once again collects two hits, but also adds another walk.

West Virginia 7, Lakewood 1 (May 25, 2014)

Ranfi Casimiro - 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 6 GB, 7 FB
Jiandido Tromp - 2 for 4, HR, K
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 4
JP Crawford - 0 for 1
Willians Astudillo - 1 for 4, 2B
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 3, BB, K
Mitch Walding - 1 for 4, K (throwing error)
Samuel Hiciano - 0 for 4, K
Wilmer Oberto - 1 for 3, 2B, K
Deivi Grullon - 2 for 3

JP Crawford gets pulled from the game because he didn't hustle on a groundout? Can't confirm, but that seems to be the rumor. Casimiro has now had 3 straight quality starts, which seems to say he is turning things around after a pretty horrific start to the season. The Lakewood offense must have used all their power in the previous two games as they are held to 1 run on 8 hits (0 for 6 with RISP). Jiandido Tromp led the game off with a homer (his 1st) and that would be all she wrote for Blue Claw runs. Lakewood falls to 19-28.
