Last Friday, the Phillies lost to the Dodgers 2-0. Then they beat L.A. 5-3 on Saturday, only to then be no-hit on Sunday. They then beat the Colorado Rockies 9-0 on Tuesday, and lost to Colorado last night 6-2.
Based on my astute observation of patterns, the Phillies are going to win tonight 112-4. Go call your bookie.
OK, seriously, don't call your bookie, but given the schizophrenic nature of this ballclub, a win tonight seems almost inevitable, doesn't it?
It's going to be hard for the Phils to come down from the euphoric high of Ben Revere's first career home run last night, despite the four-run loss to the Rockies. Clearly, the team will be on cloud nine when they come to the ballpark today, ready to face Colorado starter Jordan Lyles, who is 5-1 with a 3.45 ERA in 10 starts.
For the Phillies, it'll be Roberto Hernandez, who is 2-2 with a 3.83 ERA in 11 appearances (8 of them starts). Hernandez went 6.1 innings last week in a 2-0 loss to the Dodgers, and has not had much like against Colorado in the past. In 8.2 innings, he's given up 13 runs and 18 hits with an ERA of 13.50.
One night after getting his first start of the season at first base, and hitting a home run, Darin Ruf sits and Ryan Howard is back in the lineup, as is Dom Brown, with Cesar Hernandez at third, batting eighth.
