Lehigh Valley 7, Norfolk 1 (Game 1 of doubleheader, 7 innings)
Sean O'Sullivan - 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, K, HR, 8 GB, 3 FB
Ken Giles - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, K
Tyson Gillies - 2 for 4, RBI
Tyler Henson - 1 for 3, RBI (outfield assist)
Maikel Franco - 1 for 4, R
Steve Susdorf - 1 for 2, 2 R, RBI, BB
Andres Blanco - 2 for 3, 2 R, 2 2B, 4 RBI, BB, K
Sean O'Sullivan puts forth his best effort on the season. It's not saying much, but it was a pretty good game for the soft tossing righty. Ken Giles closed it out, only giving up a 1 out double before getting a strikeout and groundout to end the game. The offense chipped in 10 hits and walked 4 times. Tyler Henson has played 2nd, 3rd, CF, LF and RF this season. He doesn't play any of them above average (likely not even average).
Lehigh Valley 4, Norfolk 1 (Game 2 of doubleheader, 7 innings, makeup of 4/25 ppd)
Seth Rosin - 3 IP, 6 H, 0 R, BB, K, 2 GB, 5 FB
Phillippe Aumont - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, 3 K
BJ Rosenberg - 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, K, HR
Cesar Jimenez - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, K
Tyson Gillies - 0 for 3, HBP
Tyler Henson - 2 for 4, 2 R, 2B, K
Maikel Franco - 1 for 4, K
Jim Murphy - 1 for 3, 2B, RBI, BB
Cameron Rupp - 0 for 3, R, BB, 2 K
Leandro Castro - 2 for 3, R, SB
Not even getting a bullpen game start could help Rosin get out of his funk and continues to get hit around. The good part though, is he limited the damage to no runs! BJ Rosenberg makes his return to the lineup after taking a nasty comeback liner off his head. He gave up the only run for the Iron Pigs via a solo homer. Lehigh Valley has now taken the first 3 games of the 5 game series. Cameron Rupp remains ice cold and is striking out at an alarming rate (14 times 31 at bats).
Trenton 3, Reading 1
Severino Gonzalez - 7 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 5 K, HR, 4 GB, 6 FB
Colton Murray - 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, K
Brock Stassi - 1 for 4, R, 2B
Cam Perkins - 1 for 4, K
Aaron Altherr - 1 for 4, RBI, K
Sebastian Valle - 2 for 3 (throwing error)
Anthony Hewitt - 0 for 3, K, CS, picked off
Severino gives up 3 runs, throws 63 of 92 pitches for strikes and takes the loss. That is three straight quality starts in a row (20.1 IP, 7 ER). It was great to see no walks issued as well. Colton Murray continued his dominance he has displayed all season. He has yet to give up an earned run since being called up to Reading (9.2 IP). The offense goes silent and were 0-4 with RISP.
Fort Myers 11, Clearwater 0
Ethan Stewart - 3.1 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 3 GB, 2 FB
Roman Quinn - 0 for 4, K
KC Serna - 1 for 4
Peter Lavin - 0 for 3, K
Art Charles - 2 for 3, 2B
Andrew Knapp - 0 for 3
Brian Pointer - 0 for 3, K
I'm not sure what Ethan Stewart is throwing, but its probably about time he stops throwing whatever it is. He likely needs to moved to the bullpen, but I'm thinking until the draft and short-season ball gets underway, there aren't many options to replace him in the rotation. The bullpen in the game fared no better with Kevin Walter and Miguel Nunez combining for 5.1 IP, giving up 7 hits 5 earned runs and walking 5. The offense combines for only 4 hits. This is another in a long season of slaps in the face for the Threshers. Andrew Knapp is batting .152.
Greensboro 6, Lakewood 3
Mark Leiter - 6 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, BB, 6 K, 2 HR, 9 GB, 3 FB
JP Crawford - 1 for 3, BB, SB
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 4, RBI, K, CS, picked off
Willians Astudillo - 1 for 4, R
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 4, K
Samuel Hiciano - 1 for 4, HR, 2 RBI, K
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 4, 2 K
Mitch Walding - 0 for 4, 3 K (fielding error)
Deivi Grullon - 0 for 3
Jiandido Tromp - 1 for 3, R, 2B
I'm not going to elaborate much for this game because our very own @cormican72 attended the game and will await his scouting report. Mark Leiter appears to have thrown decent, but gave up some long balls. JP Crawford steals his 9th base and Hiciano hits his 6th homer (his 3rd in the last 6 games).
