Today's Probables: REA: Jesse Biddle, LWD: Mark Leiter

When will the sun set on this dreadful season?
When will the sun set on this dreadful season?

Indianapolis 4, Lehigh Valley 3

Barry Enright - 4.1 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 2 HR, WP, 3 GB, 4 FB (fielding error)
Cesar Jimenez - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K
BJ Rosenberg - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB
Luis Garcia - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 K
Cam Perkins - 1 for 4, 3B
Maikel Franco - 1 for 4, 2 K
Cameron Rupp - 0 for 2, R, RBI, BB, K

Barry Enright's costly pickoff throwing error in the 5th allows the eventual winning run to score. The bullpen does pretty well in relief. Luis Garcia remains a god at AAA. Perkins continues to amaze and has a .300/.364/.400 through 30 AB's at AAA. Maikel Franco gets a hit, after going hitless in his last 3 games. Cameron Rupp's average drops to .170 after this one. Not sure what the deal is there. He is striking out a lot, but also walking a bunch. When he does hit, they are being destroyed (over half of his 14 hits are for extra bases).

New Britain 5, Reading 4

Adam Loewen - 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, HR, 9 GB, 2 FB
Colton Murray - 2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, 2 K, HR
Seth Rosin - 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER
Albert Cartwright - 2 for 5, K, SB
Carlos Alonso - 2 for 4, 2 R, 2B, BB, K
Brock Stassi - 2 for 4, 2 R, 2B, RBI
Sebastian Valle - 1 for 3, RBI, BB
Aaron Altherr - 1 for 3, 2 RBI, HBP (outfield assist, 2B)
Peter Lavin - 0 for 4, K

Adam Loewen provides the quality start, but the bullpen fails. With a 4-3 going into the top of the 9th, Seth Rosin would allow the winning run to score. Carlos Alonso remains king of hitting with yesterday's game. Altherr really looks like he is beginning to put it together. Peter Lavin looks lost after his, then deserving, promotion to Reading. He is batting .107 (3 for 28).

Tampa 5, Clearwater 4

Miguel Nunez - 5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, HR, 3 GB, 4 FB
Roman Quinn - 1 for 4, R, 2B
KC Serna - 2 for 5, RBI, SB
Anthony Hewitt - 0 for 4, 2 K
Gabriel Lino - 1 for 4, R
Brian Pointer - 3 for 3, 2 R, BB

Miguel Nunez bounces back from a horrible start (4.1 IP, 7 ER) and shuts down the Tampa offense. He allowed only a single and HR during his start. Mark Meadors and Daniel Child would be the culprits for the loss, combining for 3 IP, 5 H, 4 ER and 3 BB. KC Serna continues to do well with the Threshers. Have to imagine if there is an opening at Reading he won't be long for Clearwater. Brian Pointer must read this blog right? After a scolding yesterday, doubting his baseball abilities, has a near perfect game at the plate.

Hagerstown 2, Lakewood 0

Tyler Viza - 7 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 K, HR, 12 GB, 4 FB
JP Crawford - 0 for 3, BB, K
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 4, K
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 3, K
Willians Astudillo - 0 for 3, K
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 3
Samuel Hiciano - 0 for 3, 2 K
Mitch Walding - 0 for 3, 2 K

Tyler Viza limited the damage, but still gets hit with the loss. The Blue Claws are held to 1 hit and 1 walk for the game, in what could be called a low point on the season for this team. Crawford sees his average go below .300 for the first time since he probably started playing baseball (rough estimation). Everyone else on the team is a bust, let's pack it in for the season.
