Game 65 Open Thread: Cubs at Phillies

Come on, Phillies. The Cubs are, like you, not very good. You don't want to be first amongst the worst. Beat them!

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

This series with the Cubs could be very important.

Jimmy Rollins is just one away from tying Mike Schmidt's hits record, and two from breaking it. I'm so thrilled that Jimmy has the chance to do it at home, where everyone can celebrate with fireworks and video packages and standing ovations. It wouldn't be the same if he did it on the road.

And the Phillies have a chance at a legitimate winning streak. Not just a sweep of the Padres, one of the weakest teams in baseball (weaker than the Phillies, HA!). They can add a win against the Cubs tonight and make it four in a row, something they haven't done since 2013. If there's ever going to be a time for the Phillies to get a little bit of momentum, it's during back to back series against two of baseball's worst teams. Prove you're better than them, Phillies! Prove it!
