Lehigh Valley 3, Rochester 0 (June 13, 2014)

Brad Lincoln - 5 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 5 K, 4 GB, 4 FB
Cesar Jimenez - 2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 K
BJ Rosenberg - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R
Luis Garcia - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Leandro Castro - 1 for 4, R, 3B, 2 RBI, K, HBP
Steve Susdorf - 2 for 4, RBI, K, SB
Cam Perkins - 0 for 3, BB
Maikel Franco - 1 for 4
Tyson Gillies - 2 for 4, R, K

I asked for consistency from Lincoln after his last start and he delivered once again on Friday night. He has compiled 18 IP, 10 H, 0 R, 7 BB, 17 K in his last 3 starts. The Iron Pigs would score all 3 of their runs in the 2nd inning. 3 game hitting streak for Franco (3 for 12). Luis Garcia remains Superman at AAA (17.2 IP, 0 R).

Rochester 11, Lehigh Valley 1 (June 14, 2014)

Chris Bootcheck - 2 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 3 GB, 1 FB
Hector Neris - 3 IP, 2 R, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 GB, 4 FB
Jeremy Horst - 1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, K
Leandro Castro - 2 for 4, 2 2B, BB
Cam Perkins - 1 for 4, 2 K
Maikel Franco - 0 for 4, K (fielding error)
Tyler Henson - 1 for 3, R, BB, K
Tyson Gillies - 0 for 4, K

Chris Bootcheck has been destroyed his last 3 starts now, after a promising 2 start debut. Jeremy Horst remains broken and I doubt we see him in a Phillies uniform again, unless all the lefthanders come down with injuries. I like our odds better than Mr. Burns though.

Lehigh Valley 5, Rochester 4 (June 15, 2014)

Greg Smith - 5 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 4 ER, BB, K, 5 GB, 7 FB
Phillippe Aumont - 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R
Tyler Knigge - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Luis Garcia - 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, K
Leandro Castro - 0 for 5, K (outfield assist, 2B)
Tyler Henson - 1 for 5, 2 K
Cam Perkins - 1 for 4, R
Maikel Franco - 1 for 3, 2 R, 2B, RBI, BB
Cameron Rupp - 0 for 4, 2 K
Steve Susdorf - 3 for 4, 2B, HR, 4 RBI
Tyson Gillies - 0 for 4, 2 K

Lehigh Valley wins a series! That hasn't happened since late May when they took 4 of 5 from Norfolk. Phillippe Aumont gets the win by allowing some inherited runners to score. Luis Garcia toughs it out for a save, his 9th. Still no earned runs for that guy. Steve Susdorf with a 3 hit effort, the last hit being an RBI single that put the Iron Pigs up 5-4. Franco with a solid game. These are the types of games that Maikel really needs. He is still batting a woeful .150/.190/.275 in his last 10 games. Cam Perkins has 12 hits in his first 12 games with Lehigh.

Altoona 5, Reading 4 (June 13, 2014)

Severino Gonzalez - 6.1 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 10 K, HR, 1 GB, 5 FB
Carlos Alonso - 1 for 4, R, K (throwing error)
Aaron Altherr - 2 for 4, R, 2B, 2 RBI
Jake Fox - 2 for 4, HR, 2 RBI
Brock Stassi - 0 for 4, K
Sebastian Valle - 3 for 4

One of the oddest lines from Severino this season as he barely induces any ground ball outs, but strikes out a season high 10 (only 1 off his career high). He received a no-decision. Ryan O'Sullivan would come out again the pitch the 9th. He would give up a leadoff single, allow the runner to move to 2nd on a wild pitch and then give up a walk. On a sacrifice bunt, Carlos Alonso would commit a throwing error, allowing the walk off run to score. Anyway, how about that Aaron Altherr? Blast from the past Jake Fox (former MLBer), joins the team and blasts a HR in his debut.

Reading 5, Altoona 2 (June 14, 2014)

Hoby Milner - 7 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, 6 K, HR, 6 GB, 5 FB
Kyle Simon - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R
Seth Rosin - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB
Albert Cartwright - 3 for 5, R, 2B, SB
Carlos Alonso - 2 for 5, R, 2 2B, RBI, K
Aaron Altherr - 1 for 5, K
Brock Stassi - 1 for 3, 2 BB, K
Peter Lavin - 2 for 3, R, 2B
Logan Moore - 1 for 2, R, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, K

Hoby Milner has been spectacular in his last 8 starts, racking up 48 IP, 39 H, 13 ER, 20 BB, 32 K. Alonso remains on his torrid hitting streak. Altherr has a modest 11 game hitting streak.

Reading 7, Altoona 5 (June 15, 2014, 10 innings)

Perci Garner - 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 6 BB, 4 K, HR, 5 GB, 2 FB (pickoff error)
Colton Murray - 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, K
Seth Rosin - 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, K
Mike Nesseth - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Aaron Altherr - 1 for 5, R, K, SB (fielding error)
Brock Stassi - 1 for 4, R, BB
Sebastian Valle - 0 for 4, BB
Peter Lavin - 1 for 3, R, 2 SB
Anthony Phillips - 2 for 2, R, 3B, 2 RBI

An exciting win that almost never was. Down 3-2 going into the 9th, Anthony Philips delivers a 2-RBI triple and another run scores via a wild pitch to put the Fightin's up 5-3. Nefi Ogando and Seth Rosin are then unable to shut them down in the bottom of the 9th, allowing 2 runs to tie it at 5-5. Jake Fox and Anthony Phillips would provide the 10th inning heroics delivering RBI's to eventually allow Reading to win. Altherr steals his 5th base of the season, but picks up his 3rd error.

Hickory 8, Lakewood 6 (June 13, 2014, 10 innings)

Yacksel Rios - 3 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 4 GB, 2 FB
Julio Reyes - 3.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, 4 K, HR, 4 GB, 1 FB
JP Crawford - 1 for 5, R, BB, K, SB
Carlos Tocci - 3 for 4, R, 2B
Cody Asche - 2 for 3, 2 HR, 4 RBI
Mitch Walding - 1 for 2, K
Willians Astudillo - 0 for 4, BB
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 4, BB
Andrew Pullin - 3 for 5, R, 2B, CS
Andrew Knapp - 3 for 4, R, K
Samuel Hiciano - 1 for 5, RBI, 2 K

Cody Asche on the rehab trail, shows he is close to being ready to return to the big club. Rios and Reyes combine for 6.2 IP, 7 H, 5 ER. The actual loss fell on Cody Forsythe, who gave up 3 ER in 2 IP. JP Crawford steals his 12th stolen base. Carlos Tocci with his 3rd three-plus hit game of the season.

Hickory 5, Lakewood 2 (June 14, 2014)

Ranfi Casimiro - 6 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 5 K, 8 GB, 1 FB
Will Morris - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 K
JP Crawford - 0 for 3, R, BB, 2 SB
Carlos Tocci - 2 for 4, R, K
Cody Asche - 1 for 2, 2B, RBI, BB, SB
Willians Astudillo - 0 for 4, RBI, K (passed ball)
Zach Green - 1 for 4, 2B, 3 K
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 4, 2 K
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 3, BB, K
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 4, 3 K

Ranfi tried, but the offense and bullpen let him down. Christopher O'Hare would give up 3 runs in the top of the 9th and take the loss. JP Crawford sees his final game in a Blue Claw uniform hitless, but picks up stolen bases number 13 and 14. He will make his debut with Clearwater this week. All of the sudden Clearwater got a whole lot more interesting. Astudillo commits his 4th passed ball behind the plate. Tocci with back to back multi-hit games.

Hickory 14, Lakewood 4 (June 15, 2014)

Tyler Viza - 3 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 4 ER, BB, 2 K, HR, 3 GB, 4 FB
Carlos Tocci - 0 for 5, K
Andrew Knapp - 0 for 3, K
Cody Asche - 0 for 2, R, 2 BB, 2 K (throwing error)
Willians Astudillo - 1 for 2, R, BB, HBP
Andrew Pullin - 1 for 3, R, HBP
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 3, R, RBI, BB, K
Zach Green - 1 for 2, RBI, BB
Samuel Hiciano - 0 for 3, RBI, K

Tyler Viza continues to not show very much, struggling a bulk of the year. Batters are hitting .313 against him and he has given up 91 H, 37 ER, 13 BB and only struck out 39 in 70 IP. Carlos Tocci's hitting streak is snapped. Andrew Knapp makes another appearance behind the plate with no issues. The Crawdad's pummel Lakewood all weekend and hold almost mirror records after the close of the series, LWD: 27-42 and HIC 41-28.

State College 10, Williamsport 3 (June 13, 2014)

Alejandro Arteaga - 5 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, K, HR, 6 GB, 6 FB
Cord Sandberg - 2 for 4, K
Jiandido Tromp - 1 for 3, 2B, BB
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 3, BB, 2 K (fielding error)
Rhys Hoskins - 0 for 4, K
Deivi Grullon - 1 for 4, R (pickoff error)
Herlis Rodriguez - 0 for 2, R, RBI, BB, K, CS
Robinson Torres - 1 for 3, R, 2 K
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 3, 3 K

Poorly timed errors doom Arteaga and the Crosscutters in the season opener. Guys to watch? Almost everyone on this team has some potential, Cord Sandberg and Deivi Grullon in particular. Sandberg starts this one out on the right foot. Cord, can you please go .500 for the rest of the season? Consider it a birthday present to Phillies fans.

State College 6, Williamsport 2 (June 14, 2014)

Ricardo Pinto - 5.2 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 8 K, 2 GB, 8 FB, WP
Elniery Garcia - 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, 3 K
Cord Sandberg - 2 for 4, R, SB
Jiandido Tromp - 0 for 4, 2 K
Jan Hernandez - 1 for 4, R, 2B, RBI, 2 K
Rhys Hoskins - 0 for 4
Deivi Grullon - 0 for 4, 2 K (throwing error, 2 passed balls)
Robinson Torres - 1 for 3, BB, SB

Ricardo Pinto strikes out 8 in his pro debut, after spending the two previous years with the VSL Phillies. He is a Venezuelan native and 20 years old. There has been some poor defense attributed to these first two games of the  season, most coming from the defensively heralded Grullon. Cord Sandberg keeps up his end of the bargain with another two hits and his first stolen base. 2014 draftee Rhys Hoskins, is off to a rough start (0 for 8, K).

Williamsport 8, State College 2 (June 15, 2014)

David Whitehead - 6 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K, 6 GB, 6 FB
Cord Sandberg - 2 for 5, R, RBI, K
Jiandido Tromp - 1 for 4, 2 RBI, K
Jan Hernandez - 1 for 3, RBI, K (throwing error)
Rhys Hoskins - 0 for 3, R, BB, K
Wilmer Oberto - 2 for 4, 2 R, 2B, K
Robinson Torres - 1 for 3, 2 RBI, K
Malquin Canelo - 1 for 3, R, RBI, BB

2013 draftee David Whitehead sat out all of 2013 recovering from TJS. He was a 34th rounder. He no-hits State College in his professional debut and retired 13 straight before he was removed from the game. Gotta be pretty cool for the kid. Cord Sandberg adds another two hits, raising my unrealistic expectations even further. Jan Hernandez picks up his 2nd error in 3 games. Not a terrible weekend opener for the Crosscutters. Some good, some bad. But that is just about par for the Phillies affiliates this season.
