Phillies Minor League Roundup - June 16, 2014

Today's Probables: LHV: TBD, REA: Adam Loewen, CLR: Jeb Stefan, WIL: Mitch Gueller

Charlotte 5, Lehigh Valley 1

Barry Enright - 7 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 3 HR, 6 GB, 7 FB
Hector Neris - 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB
Jeremy Horst - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB
Leandro Castro - 1 for 4, CS
Tyler Henson - 1 for 3, R, BB, 2 K
Maikel Franco - 2 for 4, 2B, K
Cam Perkins - 0 for 4, RBI, K
Cameron Rupp - 0 for 3, 2 K (throwing error)

Barry Enright tosses a quality start, but gives up 3 homers in an inning. He is tied for the International League lead in home runs allowed with....Tyler Cloyd. The offense couldn't really get much going in this game. They went 0 for 3 with RISP. Maikel Franco did have his first multi-hit game since May 29. Cameron Rupp's woes at the plate continue and actually picks up his first error of the season. All reports indicate though his defense is good enough to be a backup at the major league level.

Lakeland 7, Clearwater 1

Ryan Demmin - 6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, 7 K, 6 GB, 4 FB
Daniel Child - 1.1 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 K
Roman Quinn - 0 for 3, BB, picked off
Brian Pointer - 1 for 4, 2 K
KC Serna - 0 for 4, K
Harold Martinez - 2 for 4, K (two fielding errors)
Gabriel Lino - 0 for 3 (passed ball)

Another quality start from a journeyman pitcher that goes wasted because of the offense. JP Crawford and the 2014 draft signees can't come soon enough, huh? Harold Martinez makes his return and picks up two hits! But also commits two errors, his 5th and 6th this season. Gabriel Lino also has himself his 4th passed ball. Roman Quinn's line now with 20 games and 78 at bats stands at .244/.314/.321 with 3 XBH, 3 steals and 3 caught stealing. Hopefully with JP hitting behind him gets him jump started.

State College 6, Williamsport 3

Feliberto Sanchez - 4 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, K, 3 HR, 5 GB, 2 FB
Richard Bielski - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K
Cord Sandberg - 1 for 4, R, 2 K
Drew Stankiewicz - 0 for 3, RBI (throwing error)
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 3, BB, 2 K
Rhys Hoskins - 1 for 4
Deivi Grullon - 0 for 3, BB
Derek Campbell - 1 for 3, BB
Herlis Rodriguez - 2 for 4, R, RBI (outfield assist, home)

Not exactly the kind of start Feliberto was looking for to begin his 2014 season. The DR native gave up all his runs via the solo home run. Cord Sandberg has hit safely in all 4 game he has played in this season. 2014 draftee Stankiewicz makes his debut and picks up an sac fly RBI, but also his first error. Herlis Rodriguez is a guy I don't believe is long for Williamsport and will move quickly if he keeps his production up. Jiandido Tromp is in a similar position.
