Durham 4, Lehigh Valley 4 (May 30, 2014)
Greg Smith - 6 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, HR, 4 GB, 5 FB, WP
BJ Rosenberg - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 K
Phillippe Aumont - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Tyson Gillies - 1 for 3, RBI
Tyler Henson - 0 for 3, BB, K
Maikel Franco - 1 for 4, K
Cameron Rupp - 0 for 4, 2 K
Leandro Castro - 2 for 4
Greg Smith continued his trend over his last 5 starts, alternating between good and bad. This was a bad one. Rosenberg and Aumont contribute 2 scoreless innings of relief combined. Cameron Rupp continues to struggle and Franco extends his hit streak to 5 games. Not much else happened this game unless you get excited about Leandro Castro two-hit games.
Durham 10, Lehigh Valley 0 (May 31, 2014)
Barry Enright - 6.1 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, HR, 8 GB, 5 FB
Seth Rosin - 1.2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 K, HR
Tyler Henson - 1 for 3, BB, K, CS (fielding error)
Maikel Franco - 0 for 4, K
Jim Murphy - 3 for 4, K
Cameron Rupp - 0 for 3, K, HBP
I think the above stats say it all. As serviceable as Enright has been this season, he is always going to have games like this. Seth Rosin had been "okay" the last few outings, but of course regresses. Franco's 5 game hitting streak comes to an end. Tyler Henson playing SS this game, commits his 3rd error this season.
Durham 4, Lehigh Valley 2 (June 1, 2014)
Sean O'Sullivan - 6 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 7 GB, 3 FB
Ethan Martin - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, K
Leandro Castro - 3 for 4, 2 2B
Tyler Henson - 1 for 4, RBI, 2 K
Maikel Franco - 0 for 4, 2 K
Cameron Rupp - 0 for 4, K
The Iron Pig offense just can't get any traction (and how can they really with this group of players...). Sean O'Sullivan collects his 5th loss (4th loss in his last 10 starts). In that same span he has 5 quality starts. Martin pitches a scoreless 7th inning. Cameron Rupp goes 0 for 11 on the weekend with 4 strikeouts. Lehigh Valley gets swept in the 3 game series and fall to 29-28.
Erie 7, Reading 4 (May 30, 2014)
Ryan Demmin - 3.2 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 7 ER, BB, K, HR, 5 GB, 2 FB
Colton Murray - 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 K
Austin Wright - 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, K
Albert Cartwright - 1 for 3, 2 R, BB (throwing error)
Carlos Alonso - 1 for 4, HR, 2 RBI
Brock Stassi - 1 for 4
Aaron Altherr - 1 for 4, RBI
Even having Cam Perkins in the lineup probably couldn't have propelled Reading to victory. Colton Murray remains sharp since the callup to Reading (12 IP, 0 ER, 11 K). Carlos Alonso hits his 4th HR.
Erie 3, Reading 2 (May 31, 2014)
Jesse Biddle - 6.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 6 GB, 6 FB
Kyle Simon - 1 IP, 3 H, 0 R
Albert Cartwright - 2 for 4, HR, 2 RBI, BB, 2 K, CS
Carlos Alonso - 1 for 2, BB
Brock Stassi - 1 for 4
Aaron Altherr - 0 for 4, 3 K
Jesse Biddle makes his return to the lineup after having to sit out his last start after sustaining a concussion due to being hit in the head with hail (yes you read that right). He limits the damage enough for a quality start, but didn't have his swing/miss stuff on Saturday. A costly Duran throwing error allowed the eventual winning run to score in the bottom of the 7th. Cartwright hits his 2nd homer on the season and remains way too old for AA.
Erie 10, Reading 1 (June 1, 2014)
Severino Gonzalez - 5 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 K, 3 HR, 7 GB, 2 FB
Mike Nesseth - 1.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 3 K
Nefi Ogando - 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Cam Perkins - 1 for 3
Aaron Altherr - 0 for 3, K
Sebastian Valle - 1 for 3
Severino's struggles continue. Positive? Other than his 5 walk performance back on May 22, he hasn't walked anyone. He still remains highly hittable. Going to take some adjustments from here on out. Mike Nesseth is proving to just be a bad pitcher, not just a bad starter. Cam Perkins returns to the lineup after being hit in the arm by a line drive. Reading gets swept by Erie in the 3 game series.
Fort Myers 7, Clearwater 4 (May 30, 2014)
Adam Loewen - 4.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 4 K, 4 FB, 4 GB
Lee Ridenhour - 2.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 K
KC Serna - 2 for 4, R, 2B, BB (throwing error)
Peter Lavin - 1 for 4, K
Andrew Knapp - 0 for 4, K
Gabriel Lino - 2 for 4, 2 R, 2B, 2 K
Brian Pointer - 2 for 3, R, 2 2B, 2 RBI, CS
Adam Loewen makes his final start for the Phillies organization. He was released after this start. Lee Ridenhour pitching well in the month of May. Gabriel Lino with his first multi-hit game since May 22. Brian Pointer from the grave with two extra base hits. He hadn't had one since May 19th. It was all for naught as Jordan Guth gives up 5 runs (3 earned) in the 8th to blow the lead and lose the game.
Clearwater 1, Brevard County 0 (May 31, 2014)
Miguel Nunez - 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, BB, 5 K, 7 GB, 5 FB
Roman Quinn - 1 for 3, R, HBP
KC Serna - 0 for 4
Peter Lavin - 2 for 4, K (outfield assist, 2B)
Art Charles - 1 for 3, RBI, K
Andrew Knapp - 0 for 2, HBP
Gabriel Lino - 0 for 3 (passed ball)
Brian Pointer - 0 for 2, BB, K
Nunez makes a splash in his triumphant return to the rotation after he had been demoted to the bullpen. Peter Lavin collects another outfield assist. Art Charles' RBI single in the 1st inning would hold up the entire game. Daniel Child, Shawn Camp and Jordan Guth would combine for 3 innings of scoreless relief.
Brevard County 4, Clearwater 3 (June 1, 2014)
Ethan Stewart - 6 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 5 GB, 1 FB
Roman Quinn - 1 for 4, K, picked off
KC Serna - 2 for 3, 2B, BB, SB, CS
Peter Lavin - 1 for 4, R, 2B, K
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 4, HR, 2 RBI, 2 K
Brian Pointer - 0 for 3, 2 K
Ethan Stewart with a semi-decent start. He was still saddled with the loss. Andrew Knapp finally gets his 1st homer on the season. It was part of a 3-run 7th inning that brought the Threshers within one run of tying the game.
Delmarva 12, Lakewood 1 (May 30, 2014)
Ranfi Casimiro - 3.1 IP, 6 H, 8 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 4 K, HR, 4 GB, 2 FB
Carlos Tocci - 0 for 2, R, BB, K, HBP
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 4, K
JP Crawford - 0 for 4, BB, K
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 4, K
Willians Astudillo - 1 for 3
Mitch Walding - 1 for 2, BB, K
Samuel Hiciano - 1 for 3, K
Absolutely brutal game. Lakewood has the unfortunate draw of facing top pitching prospect Hunter Harvey and Delmarva had the fortunate drawing of Casimiro. The Lakewood offense was 3 hit and only worked 2 walks. They had only 1 runner reach 2nd base.
Delmarva 7, Lakewood 0 (May 31, 2014)
Tyler Viza - 5 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, HR, 6 GB, 4 FB, 2 WP
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 4, K
JP Crawford - 1 for 3, HBP
Willians Astudillo - 2 for 4, 2B (pickoff error)
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 4, 4 K
Samuel Hiciano - 0 for 3, BB, 2 K, SB
Mitch Walding - 0 for 3, BB, 3 K
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 3, BB
Deivi Grullon - 0 for 4, 2 K
Tyler Viza gets demolished as the Blue Claw pitchers can't seem to get the Delmarva hitters out. Lakewood was 0 for 9 with RISP. They collected 5 hits and 3 walks. That is now 8 hits and 5 walks in the last two games for the Blue Claw offense.
Delmarva 11, Lakewood 2 (June 1, 2014)
Mark Leiter - 5.2 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 8 K, 6 GB, 2 FB, WP
Cody Forsythe - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 4, K, CS
JP Crawford - 0 for 3, R, RBI, BB
Willians Astudillo - 1 for 4, RBI
Samuel Hiciano - 1 for 4, K
Mitch Walding - 1 for 3, BB
Mark Leiter just remains completely hittable, which is odd because his K/9 is actually pretty good as he's struckout 62 in 63.1 IP on the season. Deivi Francisco and Yacksel Rios combine for 8 earned runs in 2 IP. The offense is still a mess. This game concluded just about as bad a weekend a team could possibly have (not named the Phillies).
