Game 74 Open Thread: Phillies at Cardinals

We just need to get Kyle Kendrick through the first inning.

Dilip Vishwanat

Noodling around on Kyle Kendrick's Baseball-Reference page, I found a few interesting things.

He has a career 2.90 ERA in 10 games (59 IP) against the St. Louis Cardinals. He has a 3.69 ERA at Busch Stadium over 7 games. And in 2014, his first inning ERA is 8.36.

8.36.

That's a very high number. I think everyone, Kyle included, would like to see that number go down. Perhaps today is the day it will! Positive thinking! Yes, the Phillies lost last night, but they've still won a lot of games lately, and they've played pretty competently. I think everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Today's Lineups

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES ST. LOUIS CARDINALS
Ben Revere - CF Matt Carpenter - 3B
Jimmy Rollins - SS Matt Holliday - LF
Chase Utley - 2B Matt Adams - 1B
Ryan Howard - 1B Allen Craig - RF
John Mayberry - RF Yadier Molina - C
Domonic Brown - LF Jon Jay - CF
Cody Asche - 3B Jhonny Peralta - SS
Cameron Rupp - C Mark Ellis - 2B
Kyle Kendrick - RHP Carlos Martinez - RHP

I mean it. Everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt. Except Ryne Sandberg.
