Game 56 Open Thread: Phillies at Nationals

Finally free of the Mets, the Phillies can now suck against another NL East team.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

After what seems like an eternity, the Phillies are finally facing a team that's not the Mets. Thank God.

Of course now they're facing another NL East team, the Washington Nationals. With this series, the Phillies could inch closer to fourth place, a position the Nats now inhabit. Or they could create a much larger gap between them and the Nationals and set up long term residence in fifth place.

Today's Lineup

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES WASHINGTON NATIONALS
Jimmy Rollins - SS Denard Span - CF
Chase Utley - 2B Anthony Rendon - 3B
Marlon Byrd - RF Jayson Werth - RF
Ryan Howard - 1B Adam LaRoche - 1B
Carlos Ruiz - C Ryan Zimmerman - LF
Domonic Brown - LF Wilson Ramos - C
Reid Brignac - 3B Ian Desmond - SS
Ben Revere - CF Danny Espinosa - 2B
David Buchanan - RHP J. Zimmermann - RHP

It's the beginning of the series. A blank slate. Anything could happen!
