There probably isn't much to play for here in the 2014 season, but the Phils are going to take on the Miami Marlins anyway tonight. Mostly, because the commissioner's office is going to make them and they're a bunch of prudes and stuff.
The Phils stumble into Miami having lost four straight games to the Braves at home, falling 10 games under .500 and 8.5 games out of first place. The Marlins, meanwhile, have continued to surprise, at 39-43, 5.5 games out of first, although they too have lost four in a row and are 3-7 in their last 10.
Taking the mound for the Phillies tonight will be A.J. Burnett, who is looking for his fifth solid game in a row. Over his last four starts, Burnett is 2-2 with a 2.59 ERA, 18 strikeouts and 6 walks in 31.1 innings. He'll be opposed by Henderson Alvarez, the human losing streak stopper. Miami has won their last eight games in which Henderson has started. In those eight starts, he is 3-0 with a 1.38 ERA, 33 strikeouts and 6 walks in 52.1 innings.
Here are the lineups.
