Lehigh Valley 8, Louisville 4
Sean O'Sullivan - 7 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 8 K, 2 HR, 6 GB, 3 FB
Ethan Martin - 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K
Jeremy Horst - 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K
Leandro Castro - 1 for 4, R, K
Tyler Henson - 2 for 5, 2 R, 2B, 3 RBI
Maikel Franco - 1 for 5, 2B, 2 RBI
Darin Ruf - 1 for 5, 3 K
Cam Perkins - 2 for 5, R, 3B
Sebastian Valle - 3 for 5, R
Iron Pig pitchers had the strikeout pitch working tonight, whiffing 12 batters and walking NONE. They also held Louisville to only 6 hits. Lehigh Valley rallied from a 4-3 deficit and scored 5 runs in the top of the 5th. Cam Perkins with back to back 2-hit games. Hopefully we see an upswing to his slow start in AAA. Franco delivered a big 2 run double in the 8th and has 9 XBH in his last 10 games.
Trenton 5, Reading 1
Chris Bootcheck - 3 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, HR, 5 GB, 3 FB, WP
Nefi Ogando - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 K
Mike Nesseth - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Seth Rosin - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, K
Albert Cartwright - 1 for 3, 2B, BB
Carlos Alonso - 1 for 4, K (fielding error)
Kelly Dugan - 0 for 3, R, 2 K, HBP
Aaron Altherr - 0 for 4, K (outfield assist, 2B)
Peter Lavin - 0 for 4
KC Serna - 2 for 4, RBI
Zach Collier - 0 for 2, BB, K
Chris Bootcheck wasn't doing very well in AAA and its only gotten worse in his first two starts with Reading. The bullpen however was magnificent in this game. Believe it or not, Mike Nesseth has been outstanding since going back to a reliever. The offense goes ice cold leaving 7 men on base and going 1 for 8 with RISP. KC Serna since being called up to Reading is batting .316/.350/.395 in 38 at bats.
Tampa 11, Clearwater 2
Miguel Nunez - 6 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 2 HR, 4 GB, 6 FB
Ramon Oviedo - 0.1 IP, 4 H, 6 R, 5 ER, BB, HR
Ethan Stewart - 2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 K
Roman Quinn - 0 for 3, R, BB, SB
JP Crawford - 1 for 4
Art Charles - 0 for 4, 4 K (fielding error)
Brian Pointer - 2 for 4, R, 2 2B, 2 K
Harold Martinez - 2 for 3, BB, SB
Nunez and Oviedo got obliterated yesterday. The offense strikes out 10 times and go 2 for 11 with RISP. Roman Quinn returns to the lineup and steals his 9th base. Even though Crawford now has a 8 game hitting streak, he is only hitting .200/.256/.275 over his last 10 games with no stolen bases and 1 caught stealing. Brian Pointer continues his ridiculous tear and is OPSing 1.151 in his last 10 games.
Lakewood 5, Delmarva 4
Jon Prosinski - 6 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 2 ER, BB, K, 13 GB, 3 FB
Matt Hockenberry - 2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K, 2 GB, 2 FB
Carlos Tocci - 0 for 3
Andrew Pullin - 1 for 4, R
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 3, 2B, BB, K
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 4, R, RBI, 2 K
Zach Green - 2 for 4, R
Willians Astudillo - 2 for 4, 2 R, 2B
Larry Greene - 1 for 4, 2B, 2 RBI, K
Mitch Walding - 1 for 3, 2B, RBI, 2 K (fielding error)
Malquin Canelo - 1 for 2, 2B, RBI (throwing error)
Jon Prosinski toughs it out for his 3rd win in 9 starts with the Threshers. He has done mildly better since his demotion, cutting down his HR and GB/FB rate, albeit against much lesser competition for the seasoned college pitcher. I don't think I even noticed, but Andrew Knapp has a 14 game hitting streak in which he is batting .305/.323/.576 in that stretch. That includes 8 XBH (three doubles, two triples, three homers). I think Knapp might be ready to head back to Clearwater and split some time with Lino. Oh and that Zach Green guy keeps doing well.
Williamsport 5, Vermont 2
Mitch Gueller - 6 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 ER, BB, 2 K, 6 GB, 7 FB
Deivi Francisco - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Joey Denato - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K
Calvin Rayburn - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, K
Cord Sandberg - 1 for 4, R, K
Jiandido Tromp - 1 for 4, HR, 3 RBI, 3 K
Aaron Brown - 2 for 4, 2B, SB
Derek Campbell - 1 for 4
Rhys Hoskins - 0 for 3, R, BB
Jan Hernandez - 2 for 3, HR, K (fielding error)
Sean McHugh - 3 for 3, R, RBI
Emmanuel Marrero - 0 for 3 (fielding error)
I think Gueller is finally settling in, huh? Aside from a disastrous 2nd start, in his other 4 starts this season he has only given up 2 earned runs (22 IP), while striking out 14. This is great progress after a disappointing 2013. Tromp gets the hat trick, but smacks his 7th homer of the season. Jan Hernandez hits his 4th dinger and commits his 6th error. Aaron Brown is now hitting .304 on the season and steals his 6th bag. Williamsport sits at 16-11, but still 3 games behind division leading State College. However, Williamsport is one of the hottest teams in the league right now.
GCL Phillies 3, GCL Yankees1 2 (12 innings, continuation of 7/9 game that was suspended)
I won't rehash the stats from this one since it only went one more inning from where it was suspended. Olvy Marte delivered the RBI single to score Jose Pujols who had singled earlier.
GCL Yankees1 3, GCL Phillies 2
Franklyn Kilome - 4 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, BB, 3 K, 7 GB, 2 FB, WP
Carlos Duran - 2 for 4, R, RBI, BB, K, SB
Freddy Galvis - 0 for 3, K
Clete Thomas - 1 for 3, RBI
Tommy Joseph - 1 for 3, 2 K
Jose Pujols - 0 for 4
Gustavo Martinez - 1 for 4, K, CS
Luis Encarnacion - 2 for 4, 2 K
Tim Zier - 1 for 3, R, K, SB (throwing error)
Franklyn Kilome pitches well again in his 2nd start. Lewis Alezones picks up the loss by giving up a run in the 7th. Galvis, Thomas and Joseph (!!!) still on the rehab trail. 16 year old Encarnacion remains the most consistent hitter recently, with a .367/.441/.500 slash in his last 10 games.
