Phillippe Aumont would like to know if it is okay for him to come back and play? Is timeout over?
Phillippe Aumont would like to know if it is okay for him to come back and play? Is timeout over?
Howard Smith-US PRESSWIRE

Lehigh Valley 3, Scranton/WB 2

Greg Smith - 5.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, 6 K, HR, 4 GB, 3 FB
Phillippe Aumont - 1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K
Cesar Jimenez - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 K
Luis Garcia - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Grady Sizemore - 1 for 4, BB, K
Leandro Castro - 2 for 3, R, 2B
Jim Murphy - 3 for 4, R, 2 2B, RBI, K
Cam Perkins - 0 for 4
Sebastian Valle - 0 for 4, 3 K

The Iron Pigs squeak out a win behind a solid effort from Greg Smith, who was cruising through 5 innings before surrendering two in the 6th via a 2 run homer. Aumont, Jimenez and Garcia were solid overall in relief. Even Aumont was able to get himself out of a bases loaded 2-out jam by striking out a batter to end the inning. Leandro Castro is still in beast-mode. He is 13 for his last 32. Maikel Franco continues to get an extended break. Perhaps he should travel to Philly to talk to Mike Schmidt. That's what we do with struggling prospects, right?

New Hampshire 6, Reading 2

Hoby Milner - 6 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 5 ER, BB, 5 K, 3 HR, 5 GB, 4 FB
Colton Murray - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K
Nefi Ogando - 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, K
Carlos Alonso - 0 for 4
Kelly Dugan - 1 for 4, 2B, 2 K
Aaron Altherr - 0 for 4
Peter Lavin - 1 for 4, R, 3B
KC Serna - 2 for 3, R, 2B, RBI, K
Raywilly Gomez - 1 for 2, RBI, BB (fielding error)

Hoby Milner was dealing until the 5th inning, when he would give up two 2-run homers to allow New Hampshire to take the lead. Colton Murray was once again solid in relief. He has been a bit unlucky in Reading so far, giving up 12 runs in 28.1 innings, but only 6 of those are earned. All the while he has struck out 28. He should get the call up to AAA by August. Nefi Ogando goes to show you that even with awesome velocity, you can still get crushed. Of course with him it is to the effect of 31 earned runs in 34 innings. KC Serna doesn't miss a beat in his AA debut. Peter Lavin serves up his 3rd triple with Reading and 5th overall this season.

Dunedin 1, Clearwater 0

Aaron Nola - 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 K, 3 GB, 5 FB
Roman Quinn - 1 for 4, 3 K, CS
JP Crawford - 0 for 4, K
Harold Martinez - 2 for 3
Brian Pointer - 0 for 3
Gabriel Lino - 0 for 3

Aaron Nola followed his so-so debut with a dominating second outing, allowing only 1 baserunner all game. He had only one 3-ball count and retired the last 8 batters he faced. According to reports, he had his breaking ball working pretty well. The offense was shutdown by the Blue Jays unfortunately.

Lakewood 2, Hagerstown 1

Yacksel Rios - 8 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 12 GB, 5 FB
Matt Hockenberry - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 4
Andrew Pullin - 1 for 4, RBI
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 4, K
Dylan Cozens - 2 for 4, HR, SB
Willians Astudillo - 2 for 3, 2B, BB
Mitch Walding - 0 for 3, BB, K
Larry Greene - 0 for 4, K
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 2, BB, picked off
Emmanuel Serra - 2 for 3, R, K, SB

Yacksel Rios misses a no-hitter by only 4 outs. Apparently there was some question whether it was considered a hit at all. A ball was hit to Mitch Walding, who had to dive to get the ball, but bounced it off the tip of his glove. He recovered to make the throw, but it wasn't in time. Some thought it should have been scored an error. Either way, it was a fantastic effort for Rios who set career highs in innings and pitches thrown. Dylan Cozens hit HR number 10 and stole his 13th base. He could be a 20/20 player by the end of the season. Of course, I think we would all prefer if he was putting the ball in play more and taking some free passes. Larry Greene's average is now down to .200. Andrew Pullin extends his hitting streak to 14 games.

Williamsport 6, Jamestown 3

Preston Packrall - 4.2 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, K, 7 GB, 2 FB, 2 WP
Joey Denato - 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K
Frank Rivas - 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, K
Calvin Rayburn - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R
Cord Sandberg - 1 for 3, 2 R, RBI, 2 BB
Jiandido Tromp - 2 for 2, 2 R, BB, K, SB
Aaron Brown - 1 for 5, RBI, 2 K (outfield assist, home)
Rhys Hoskins - 2 for 4, 2B, RBI, BB, 2 K, CS, picked off
Wilmer Oberto - 2 for 5, R, 2B, 2 RBI, K
Derek Campbell - 1 for 4, 2B, K (throwing error)
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 3, RBI, 2 K (throwing error)
Deivi Grullon - 1 for 4, R
Emmanuel Marrero - 1 for 4

Packrall was able to limit his damage and the offense shines as the Crosscutters go on to win. Cord Sandberg with a solid day at the plate, picking up a hit and two walks. Tromp just continues to dominate the NY-Penn League. It was reported that Herlis Rodriguez was promoted to Lakewood, though you have to wonder how he got the call over Tromp. Everyone contributes on offense. Brown picks up his first outfield assist and Deivi Grullon picks off another runner leaning at 1st.

GCL Pirates 2, GCL Phillies 1

Brandon Leibrandt - 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 K, 4 GB, 1 FB, WP
Austin Davis - 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, K
Darin Ruf - 0 for 3, K
Damek Tomscha - 0 for 2
Trey Williams - 0 for 3
Jose Pujols - 0 for 3, 2 K
Jesus Posso - 1 for 2, R, 2B
Jake Sweaney - 1 for 3, K
Olvy Marte - 1 for 3

Brandon Leibrandt has had an interesting start to the season. He threw 3 scoreless in his debut, followed it up with giving up 9 hits and 5 runs and then throws 4 solid innings last night. The tall 21 year old Georgia is a name to keep an eye on. Darin Ruf goes hitless in his 2nd rehab start. #FreeTomscha bursts everyone's bubble and Pujols goes hitless with a couple punchouts. The offense gets 3-hit en route to a loss.
