Lehigh Valley, Syracuse (postponed due to rain)
Reading, New Hampshire (postponed due to rain)
Dunedin 14, Clearwater 6
Jeb Stefan - 3.2 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 4 BB, 2 K, 5 GB, 0 FB
Roman Quinn - 3 for 5, 2 R, 2 RBI
JP Crawford - 1 for 3, R, 2 BB
Brian Pointer - 1 for 4, K
Harold Martinez - 1 for 4, R, K
Angelo Mora - 2 for 3, 2 R, 2B, 3B, K
Jeb Stefan has now given up 6 earned runs in each of his last two starts. Except this time he was more efficient in achieving that goal, getting it done in 3.2 innings as opposed to 5. Daniel Child, not featured above, gave up 7 runs (5 earned) in 1.2 innings. The offense did the best they could, getting 10 hits and 4 walks, but were behind the 8 ball after the 1st inning. Roman Quinn with an impressive 3 hit game. JP Crawford gets back in the hit column, but more importantly showing an advanced approach at the plate for a 19 year old.
Lakewood 4, Hagerstown 1
Tyler Viza - 6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 K, 5 GB, 7 FB, WP
Will Morris - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 4, 2 R, RBI, BB
Andrew Pullin - 1 for 4, RBI, K
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 3, BB, 2 K
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 4, K
Zach Green - 0 for 4

Samuel Hiciano - 2 for 4, 2B, K
Herlis Rodriguez - 1 for 3, R, 3B, BB
Malquin Canelo - 1 for 4, R, RBI, 3 K
Tyler Viza has by far his best start in quite a long time. Likely since his 4/16 performance when he went 7 scoreless. Needless to say, he hasn't had a very good year. Will Morris has gone his last 8 appearances (14.1 IP) by not allowing a run. He has a 0.98 ERA and is holding opponents to a .217 average. The 21 year old righty from Las Vegas has been spectacular thus far and could be moving up to Clearwater very soon. He was 24th rounder in the 2013 draft.
Williamsport 7, Jamestown 3 (12 innings)
David Whitehead - 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, BB, K, 7 GB, 4 FB
Mark Meadors - 1.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
Frank Rivas - 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 K
Manny Martinez - 2 IP,1 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K
Joey Denato - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, K
Cord Sandberg - 2 for 5, 2 R, 2B, HR, SB
Jiandido Tromp - 2 for 5, R, 2B, BB, K
Aaron Brown - 2 for 4, R, 2 RBI, 2 SB, HBP
Rhys Hoskins - 0 for 5, R, BB, 2 K
Matt Shorthall - 3 for 6, HR, 3 RBI, CS
Derek Campbell - 3 for 6, 2B
Drew Stankiewicz - 0 for 4, BB
Wilson Garcia - 1 for 6, R
Emmanuel Marrero - 1 for 6, K (fielding error)
David Whitehead has been a feel good story in 2014, but he has also pitched extremely well. He is holding opponents to a .188 BA, has only walked 6 batters in 24.2 innings and given up just 4 earned runs. The bullpen shut it down, despite a costly Marrero error. Cord Sandberg continues to give the vapors to myself and I'm sure many others. That is HR number 3 and SB number 5 for him. The Crosscutter outfield is quite impressive with Sandberg, Tromp and Brown. When people claim the farm system is crap, I do have to correct them. The top levels are a bit barren, but they have so much potential talent at the A level right now. Eventually some of these guys will be heading to Reading and we will hopefully all feel a little bit better.
Yoel Mecias - 5 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 6 GB, 3 FB
Jared Fisher - 2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 1 ER, BB
Kyle Bogese - 2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, K
Tim Zier - 2 for 4, 2 R, 2B, RBI, BB
Darin Ruf - 1 for 4, BB, K
Wil Nieves - 2 for 3
Gustavo Martinez - 2 for 3, 2 R, 2B, RBI, K
Damek Tomscha - 0 for 4, BB
Luis Encarnacion - 1 for 2, R, BB, HBP
Jake Sweaney - 0 for 4 (outfield assist, 2B)
William Cucias - 2 for 4, RBI, K (fielding error)
Mecias is still on the road to TJS recovery mind you, but his first 3 starts this season has been varying in success. His first was great, his second was not so great and this one fell in the mediocre column. There is still a ton of potential with this kid and his arm. Luis Encarnacion is riding a nice little 3 game hitting streak (5 for 10).
