Columbus 6, Lehigh Valley 1
Jo-Jo Reyes - 4 IP, 10 H, 6 R, 6 ER, BB, K, HR, 6 GB, 4 FB
Tyler Knigge - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R
Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez - 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, K
Cesar Hernandez - 0 for 4, 2 K
Freddy Galvis - 1 for 3, HR, BB, K
Maikel Franco - 0 for 4
Leandro Castro - 2 for 4
Cam Perkins - 0 for 4, 4 K
Cameron Rupp - 0 for 3, K
Jo-Jo Reyes has given up 24 earned runs in 20.2 innings for Lehigh Valley. Apparently, he is a better option for the Phils than poor Barry Enright, who was released a few weeks ago. Freddy "Hammerin" Galvis blasts his 4th HR of the season (3rd with LHV). The offense was otherwise shutdown by Indian's fireballer, Danny Salazar, who had a rough go of it in the majors this season. Franco is 0 for 12 with 3 strikeouts in his last 3 games. He hasn't had back-to-back-to-back no hit games since June 7-9. The Camerons had a rough day.
Reading, Harrisburg (postponed due to rain)
Greensboro 7, Lakewood 0 (Game 1 of doubleheader, 7 innings)
Yoel Mecias - 3.2 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 5 ER, BB, 2 K, HR, 6 GB, 2 FB, WP
Daniel Child - 1.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, K
Samuel Hiciano - 0 for 3, K
Andrew Pullin - 2 for 2, BB
Willians Astudillo - 1 for 3
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 3, K
Zach Green - 0 for 3
Andrew Knapp - 0 for 3, 2 K
Mitch Walding - 0 for 2
Yoel Mecias was lit up in this one, arguably his first truly bad outing since returning from TJS. Since being demoted to Lakewood, Child has given up 16 hits and 12 earned runs in 9.2 innings. The Grasshoppers 3-hit the Lakewood offense. Is Andrew Pullin turning into a legit prospect? His BB/rate is at 9.5% and he is only striking out 20% of the time. Yes, his defense isn't stellar, but with the bat rounding out it might even be passable at this point. It will be a big year next year for Pullin in Clearwater.
Greensboro 1, Lakewood 0 (Game 2 of doubleheader, 7 innings, makeup of 8/11 ppd)
Jon Prosinski - 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 ER, BB, K, 10 GB, 4 FB
Carlos Tocci - 0 for 4
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 3, K
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 2, BB (passed ball)
Zach Green - 0 for 3, K
Willians Astudillo - 2 for 3
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 3, 2 K
Mitch Walding - 0 for 3, K (fielding error)
Drew Stankiewicz - 1 for 3, K
Malquin Canelo - 3 for 3, 2B (fielding error)
A crucial passed ball by Knapp and fielding error from Walding ultimately wind up costing Lakewood the win. They outhit Greensboro 7-5 in the game, but were 0 for 3 with RISP and left 7 on base. Prosinski at times shows some semblance of a pitcher with his high groundball rate. He remains too hittable however and doesn't have any "out pitches" to speak of. There has been a lot of chatter about the outlook of Astudillo lately, but unless he learns to competently catch or develop a bit more power, I highly doubt he reaches the majors.
Williamsport, Batavia (postponed due to rain)
GCL Yankees1 4, GCL Phillies 2
Elneiry Garcia - 6 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 5 K, 8 GB, 4 FB (throwing error)
Jared Fisher - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, K
Jacques De Gruy - 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, K
Olvy Marte - 2 for 5, R, K, SB (throwing error)
Tim Zier - 1 for 4, RBI, CS, picked off
Grenny Cumana - 1 for 3, R, 2B, SB, HBP (throwing error)
Damek Tomscha - 0 for 3, BB, K
Jesus Posso - 1 for 4, 2B, RBI, 2 K
Jose Pujols - 1 for 4, 2 K
Joel Fisher - 1 for 4, K
Luis Encarnacion - 0 for 4, 3 K (outfield assist, home)
Gustavo Martinez - 1 for 4 (outfield assist, home)
Despite a quality start and throwing two guys out at home, the GCL Phillies fall. Elneiry Garcia has been solid in all any role the team has asked him to be. He has struck out 18, walked 4 and given up only 7 earned runs in 20.2 IP. Cumana steals his 6th base and is slashing .352/.405/.493 on the season.
