Lehigh Valley 5, Syracuse 4
Sean O'Sullivan - 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 4 K, 5 GB, 5 FB
Mike Adams - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Ethan Martin - 1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, K
Luis Garcia - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K
Cesar Hernandez - 2 for 3, R, BB, CS
Maikel Franco - 1 for 4, HR, 4 RBI, K
Cam Perkins - 1 for 4, K (outfield assist, home)
Sebastian Valle - 1 for 4, R, RBI, K
Two quality starts in a row for Seany Boy. Mike Adams makes a brief appearance before the season ends. Remember that guy? He was supposed to be the Phillies setup guy the past two seasons? I wouldn't have known either. Ethan Martin gets saved by a Cam Perkins outfield assist (his 9th) in the top of the 8th that would have tied the game. Luis Garcia saves his 21st game and has a 1.01 ERA. I'd imagine he will be called up in September when rosters expand. Maikel, Maikel, Maikel...you hit a grandslam, your 16th HR of the season and your 4th in your last 5 games. Why do I sound so glum? He has yet to take a walk in August (100 at bats). That is a big old red flag and something that I don't think will help him at the MLB level. The power and quick bat are all nice, but he needs some patience at the plate. If you exclude a crappy April and June, he is batting nearly .310 on the season.
Reading 4, Portland 1
Ryan O'Sullivan - 7 IP, 6 H, 0 R, BB, 6 K, 8 GB, 2 FB
Colton Murray - 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, HR
Matt Hoffman - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Carlos Alonso - 2 for 4
Peter Lavin - 1 for 3, 2B, RBI
Aaron Altherr - 2 for 4, R, 2B, K
KC Serna - 3 for 4, 2 R, 2B, RBI
Zach Collier - 2 for 4, K
That's more like it Ryan! It wasn't looking good amid a horrible August for O'Sullivan as he saw his ERA shoot up nearly a full run. Ryan O'Sullivan will be joining Colton Murray in the Arizona Fall League this year. The offense collected all 4 of their runs last night in innings 7-9. The offense will be without Kelly Dugan, who broke his foot this past weekend. Dugan can't escape the injuries and costs him his likely 2nd (and final) opportunity in the AFL.
Tampa 4, Clearwater 1
Mark Leiter - 6.1 IP, 10 H, 3 R, 2 ER, BB, 2 K, HR, 8 GB, 5 FB
Lino Martinez - 1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, K
Aaron Baker - 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Roman Quinn - 1 for 3, BB, CS
Jesmuel Valentin - 1 for 4, K
JP Crawford - 0 for 4 (fielding error)
Brian Pointer - 2 for 4, R, 2B, K
Gabriel Lino - 0 for 2, BB, K
Pretty dismal day for the Threshers as Mark Leiter gets hit around, Quinn is caught stealing for the 11th time and Crawford goes hitless with his 16th fielding error (28th across two levels). Brian Pointer with the only multi-hit day, knocking in his 19th double. Pointer has had two very good months this season, June and August. In August he is slashing .296/.430/.543.
Hickory 6, Lakewood 2
Tyler Viza - 3.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 1 GB, 2 FB (pickoff error)
Julio Reyes - 3.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 K
Jesen Therrien - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, 4 K
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 4, K (missed catch error)
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 4, 2 K
Zach Green - 0 for 3, R, BB, 2 K
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 4, HR, 2 RBI, K
Willians Astudillo - 1 for 4, 2B
Aaron Brown - 2 for 4, 2B, K
Mitch Walding - 0 for 3, 2 K (fielding error)
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 3, K
Tyler Viza picks up his minor league leading 17th loss last night. It is likely a cap on a very forgetful season for Tyler. Aaron Brown seems to be adjusting well to SAL pitching, slashing .371/.410/.514 through 35 at bats (9 games). Dylan Cozens with his 16th dinger. The only thing missing from his game right now is the patience at the plate. He is an adequate fielder with a good arm, hits for power and steals bases. The strikeouts will always be there, but if he is to become a Adam Dunn-lite, he will need to learn to take some walks.
Williamsport 8, Batavia 1
Feliberto Sanchez - 5.2 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 K, 2 GB, 6 FB
Matt Hockenberry - 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R

Bryan Sova - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Cord Sandberg - 0 for 6, K
Jiandido Tromp - 3 for 4, R, 2B, BB, 2 SB, CS
Chase Harris - 0 for 3, BB, 2 K, HBP, CS, picked off
Rhys Hoskins - 2 for 5, R, RBI, 2 K
Derek Campbell - 2 for 5, 2 R, 3B, RBI, K
Jose Pujols - 2 for 4, 2 R, RBI, 2 K, HBP
Jan Hernandez - 2 for 4, R, 2B, RBI, BB
Deivi Grullon - 2 for 5, 2B, 3 RBI
Emmanuel Marrero - 2 for 5, 2 K, 2 SB
Feliberto Sanchez ending the season on a higher note than what it started as. Cord Sandberg is the only Crosscutter not to reach base last night despite 6 attempts. Tromp picks up stolen bases 14 and 15 (18 across two levels).
GCL Phillies 3, GCL Yankees1 1
Jason Zgardowski - 5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, 6 K, HR, 3 GB, 6 FB, WP
