Phillies Minor League Roundup - August 7, 2014

Today's Probables: LHV: TBD, REA: Ryan O'Sullivan, CLR: Jordan Guth, LWD: Yacksel Rios, WIL: Ranfi Casimiro

Lehigh Valley 9, Toledo 5

Jo Jo Reyes - 3 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 4 K
Ethan Martin - 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 K
Hector Neris - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 4 K
Luis Garcia - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Cesar Hernandez - 2 for 5, R, 3B, RBI, 2 K (fielding error)
Freddy Galvis - 3 for 4, 4 R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, BB, K
Maikel Franco - 3 for 5, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI
Leandro Castro - 2 for 5, 2 RBI, 2 K
Cam Perkins - 0 for 5, 3 K

Jo Jo Reyes is still a thing. Ethan Martin gets a win in a solid relief effort. "Freddy Ruth" is on  warpath and is bound to get the WIP crowd all riled up with his antics. Maikel Franco hits his 3rd HR in his last 9 games, his 10th of the season overall. Franco has been particularly good in his past 30 games. These are exciting times.

Reading 3, Harrisburg 0

Chris Bootcheck - 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 5 K
Kyle Simon - 4 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 5 K
Colton Murray - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 K
Carlos Alonso - 1 for 4, R, 2B, K
Peter Lavin - 1 for 3, BB
Kelly Dugan - 2 for 3, 2B, RBI, BB, K
Jake Fox - 1 for 4, HR
Aaron Altherr - 1 for 4, HR
KC Serna - 0 for 4

Reading combines for 2 hits and 14 strikeouts over 9 innings. It's been a tough season for Altherr, who launches his 10th homer of the season. Kelly Dugan's hot streak continues and is slashing .294/.391/.423 on the season. That is....really good despite the lack of "slugging".

Daytona 18, Clearwater 2

Mark Leiter - 1.2 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
Jeb Stefan - 3 IP, 4 H, 7 R, 3 ER, 5 BB, 3 K, HR, WP
Kevin Walter - 2.1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 2 HR, WP (fielding error)
Perci Garner - 2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 K
Roman Quinn - 0 for 4, 2 K (fielding error)
JP Crawford - 0 for 4
Brian Pointer - 1 for 3, R, 2 K (outfield assist, 2B)
Harold Martinez - 0 for 3
Art Charles - 1 for 3, HR, 2 RBI
Herlis Rodriguez - 3 for 3

The final line for Threshers pitchers comes to: 9 IP, 14 H, 18 R, 13 ER, 12 BB, 13 K, 3 HR. Impressively bad. Roman and JP go hitless. Pointer adds another outfield assist to the stat pile and Art Charles hits his 3rd homer in 5 games (14th overall).

Delmarva 5, Lakewood 3 (12 innings)

Jon Prosinski - 6 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 12 GB, 2 FB
Joey Denato - 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB
Aaron Baker - 3 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, 6 K, WP
Carlos Tocci - 0 for 6, 3 K
Andrew Pullin - 3 for 6, HR, 2 RBI, K
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 6, K
Zach Green - 2 for 4, R, 2 BB
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 5, BB, 3 K (fielding error)
Willians Astudillo - 1 for 5, RBI, CS
Mitch Walding - 1 for 5, 2 K
Samuel Hiciano - 1 for 3, R, BB, K, CS

If only Prosinski could produce these results at higher levels. Aaron Baker puts up a great effort in relief, but surrenders the eventual winning runs. The offense leaves 11 men on base and were 2 for 7 with RISP.

Hudson Valley 5, Williamsport 2

Alejandro Arteaga - 6 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 5 K, HR, 6 GB, 4 FB
Matt Hockenberry - 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, K
Manny Martinez - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, K
Cord Sandberg - 1 for 4, HR, 2 K
Jiandido Tromp - 0 for 0, HBP
Aaron Brown - 0 for 4 (fielding error)
Rhys Hoskins - 2 for 3, R, BB
Derek Campbell - 0 for 3, K
Jan Hernandez - 1 for 4, RBI, K
Deivi Grullon - 0 for 4, K
Emmanuel Marrero - 1 for 3, 3B

Arteaga takes his 12th loss of the season and sports a 6.65 ERA across two levels. Cord Sandberg hits his first HR since July 3. Jiandido Tromp was hit in the chin by a pitch and was removed from the game. Not much else is known at this point. This is a huge blow for Tromp who is having a breakout season for Williamsport.

GCL Phillies 11, GCL Yankees2 7
