Jonathan Papelbon suspended by MLB

More details to follow, but Papelbon's nutgrab yesterday earned him a seven game suspension.

If grabbing your junk gets you a week, then this should get West fired. But it won't.

Ah, the closer who blows the save, receiving his comeuppance from the furious public.

Dignity. Always dignity.

Jonathan Papelbon's suspension begins tonight in San Diego, and he will not appeal it. The Phillies also apparently support the move, noting in a press release that they "apologize to our fans for the actions of our player yesterday," and that they "fully support the decision."

Great.

In other news, Joe West was not fired out of a cannon into the sun, proving that MLB remains largely tone-deaf regarding the actions of its umpires.

More details to follow as they become available.
