One thing Ken Giles is prepared to do as a Major League Baseball player is throw the ball 101 m.p.h. and strike fools out so hard they wake up still out the next morning.
One thing Ken Giles is not prepared to do as a Major League Baseball player is speak in public.
And yet, as we all see here, Jonathan Papelbon thought it would be hilarious to shatter young Giles' mind by handing him the microphone during a pregame ceremony celebrating the combined no-hitter thrown by Cole Hamels, Jake Diekman, Giles, and Papelbon.
Giles went with the "awkward person" classics:
- "Really?"
- "I feel really awkward right now."
- "I don't know what to say."
- "Let's play some ball right now!"
Some extremely light applause followed from people likely cringing and hoping the stadium would collapse and end everyone's suffering.
