Game 8 Open Thread: Phillies at Mets

Matt Harvey: terrifyingly good.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Tonight, us Phillies fans get to experience the pleasure and pain of baseball.

The Pleasure: We get to see Matt Harvey, one of the best young hurlers in the game, pitch baseballs. It's only his second start back from Tommy John surgery, but if his first start was any indication, he's going to be just as good -- if not better.

The Pain: Of course, we get to watch him because he's pitching against our favorite team, the Phillies. Utley and Howard have been weak sauce at the plate thus far, and watching them flail against Harvey's superior stuff isn't going to be very fun.

Great pitching, but against our team. Now we all know how it felt to be fans of every other National League team in 2011.

Let's look at the rest of the lineup.

Today's Lineups

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES NEW YORK METS
Odubel Herrera - CF Curtis Granderson - RF
Freddy Galvis - SS David Wright - 3B
Chase Utley - 2B Lucas Duda - 1B
Ryan Howard - 1B Michael Cuddyer - LF
Carlos Ruiz - C Daniel Murphy - 2B
Cody Asche - 3B Travis d'Arnaud - C
Grady Sizemore - RF Juan Lagares - CF
Ben Revere - LF Wilmer Flores - SS
David Buchanan - RHP Matt Harvey - RHP

Ryne Sandberg is still having fun shuffling his lineup deck chairs. At the very least, he's experimenting. With everyone but Chase Utley and Ryan Howard. How badly will the two of them have to hit before he moves them to another spot in the lineup? They live at three & four. They'd have to somehow hit in the negative numbers.

Good luck, Phillies. Discuss the game in the comments below.
