Game 12 Open Thead: Phillies at Nationals

Ryne Sandberg: Misunderstood genius or overmatched dolt?

"Yup, this lineup works. The game will catch up to my genius. It's just a matter of time."

Will today be the day the Phillies break their losing streak? Only time and destiny know for sure. We can only watch as the future plays out in from of us. Aaron Harang could be the bringer of a win, or he could plunge us further into the darkness.

Today's Lineups

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES WASHINGTON NATIONALS
Odubel Herrera - CF Michael Taylor - CF
Freddy Galvis - SS Ian Desmond - SS
Chase Utley - 2B Bryce Harper - RF
Jeff Francoeur - RF Ryan Zimmerman - 1B
Cody Asche - 3B Clint Robinson - LF
Darin Ruf - LF Dan Uggla - 2B
Ryan Howard - 1B Danny Espinosa - 3B
Cameron Rupp - C Jose Lobaton - C
Aaron Harang - RHP Jordan Zimmermann - RHP
But how dark is it really? Is this any worse than what we expected? It's not worse than I expected. It's better, actually. The team is almost comically bad. The lineup above, with one tweak or two, has been the same for three games now. The Phillies keep losing and yet Ryne Sandberg apparently thinks "Yup, this lineup works. The game will catch up to my genius. It's just a matter of time."
Only time can tell us truly the fate of these Phillies. That time is now, and that fate is today.
