Today's Probables:
LHV: Adam Morgan
REA: Ben Lively
CLR: TBD
LWD: Josh Taylor
Lehigh Valley 6, Scranton/WB 1
Severino Gonzalez - 6 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 K, 8 GB, 2 FB, WP, HBP
Cesar Jimenez - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R
Colton Murray - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Darin Mastroianni - 2 for 5, R, 2B, K, SB
Tyler Henson - 2 for 5, R, RBI (fielding error)
Domonic Brown - 1 for 4, R, 2 K, HBP (outfield assist, home)
Maikel Franco - 2 for 5, R, RBI, K
Russ Canzler - 2 for 4, 2 R, 2B, BB, 2 K
Gonzalez bounces back from a brutal start last week and picks up win #1 of the season. The LHV offense put on a display with 14 hits, doubling the Railriders output. Franco doesn't appear to be slowing down and Dom Brown (playing RF) throws a runner out at home. Its only a matter of time until Dom replaces Francoeur and the world will rejoice.
Akron 12, Reading 4
Tom Windle - 5 IP, 9 H, 9 R, 8 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 2 HR, 9 GB, 2 FB
Mike Nesseth - 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, BB, 3 K
Roman Quinn - 2 for 5, R, 3 K (fielding error)
KC Serna - 1 for 3, R, BB, K (throwing error)
Aaron Altherr - 2 for 4, RBI
Brock Stassi - 0 for 3, BB
Brian Pointer - 2 for 4, HR
It just wasn't a good day for Windle, with no clean innings pitched. He did produce more GB outs this time around, but still matched his 9 hits allowed in his first start. Roman Quinn strikes out three times, but also picks up another 2 hits. Yay? Reading commits 5 errors in total. Pointer hits his 2nd homer of the season and is batting .190.
Clearwater 3, Tampa 0
Brandon Leibrandt - 7 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 7 K, 6 GB, 4 FB
Edubray Ramos - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 K
Andrew Pullin - 1 for 4, R
Andrew Knapp - 0 for 4, 3 K
Dylan Cozens - 2 for 4, R, 2B
Willians Astudillo - 1 for 4
Aaron Brown - 1 for 4, 2 RBI
Zach Green - 0 for 2, BB, K
Brandon Leibrandt is making quick work of the Florida State League competition, giving up only 3 runs in 19 innings of work (while striking out 15). He also picked off 3 runners at 1st in the game and only allowed one baserunner to reach 2nd. Look for Mr. Leibrandt to make the leap to Reading once a spot opens up. Ramos picks up his 2nd save. Cozens with the only multi-hit performance in the game and the only extra-base hit.
Lakewood 8, Greensboro 5
Ricardo Pinto - 6 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 6 K, HR, 9 GB, 1 FB
Austin Davis - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K
Matt Hockenberry - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 3 K
Malquin Canelo - 1 for 4, HR, BB (fielding error)
Jiandido Tromp - 0 for 4, K
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 4, R, 2B, BB
Rhys Hoskins - 4 for 4, 3 R, 2 HR, 2 RBI, BB
Cord Sandberg - 1 for 4, R
Deivi Grullon - 1 for 5, K
Herlis Rodriguez - 1 for 4, R, BB, SB, CS
Derek Campbell - 3 for 4, HR, 2 RBI, SB
Grenny Cumana - 1 for 4, K, SB
Pinto picks up his first win, despite this being his worst start among the 3 he's pitched. Though, 6 strikeouts, no walks and an impressive GB/FB ratio are the real stars of this line. Hockenberry gets his 2nd save. Hoskins with pretty much a perfect day at the plate, blasting 2 home runs (3 HR in last two games). Herlis Rodriguez steals home in this one and I'd love to know the circumstances around it. Tocci still has a ridiculous OPS of 1.007. Canelo hits is 3rd professional HR and first this season.
