Phillies Minor League Roundup: May 25, 2015

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Lehigh Valley 0 - Gwinnett 1

Suspended after 2 Innings for rain. Will be in next recap to avoid confusion.

Reading 2 - Portland 8

Aaron Nola 5.0 IP, 7H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, 4 K, HR, Pickoff
Lee Ridenhour 2.0 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, K, 2 HR
Stephen Shackleford 1.0 IP
Roman Quinn 0 for 4, 2 K
Aaron Altherr 0 for 4, K, Outfield Assist at Home
Cam Perkins 1 for 4, R, RBI, HR, K
Art Charles 0 for 3, BB, K
Gabiel Lino 1 for 3, 2B, BB

Wind was blowing out pretty strong to Center and a few pitches took rides that might not have otherwise. Also, a very efficient appearance by Ridenhour who manages to get every single baserunner he allows to score on him. Sometimes it just ain't your day. Bad luck for Nola too as he manages to pound the Strike zone and still has a rough outing. The Reading bats had their issues though as most were pretty quiet,

The Florida State League was closed for business today, so no Clearwater game to recap.

Lakewood 2 - West Virginia 4

Josh Taylor 5.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, HBP
Will Morris 1.2 IP, 2 H
Austin Davis 1.0 IP, BB, 2 K
Joey DaNato 1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER
Malquin Canelo 2 for 5, K, SB
Cord Sandberg 0 for 3, BB, R
Carlos Tocci 3 for 4, 2B, R, K, Outfield Assist at 3rd
Deivi Grullon 0 for 4, K, RBI
Rhys Hoskins 1 for 1, 2B
Herlis Rodriguez 2 for 4, , K, 2 SB

The Claws got on base, but then managed to go 0 for 9 with RISP. Rough game for Grullon especially in that case, as he was up 3 times with RISP and converted one. The other time he wiped out a Potential rally with a GIDP. Still, I'm a really big fan of the guy and the player, I'm rooting for him. His bat's not his calling card though so DH'ing has to be a little tough for him.
