Brandon Leibrandt, the soft-tossing 22 year old lefty, pitches a career professional high 8 innings in route to his 3rd win. He lowered his ERA to 1.85 and WHIP to 0.85. According to Jim Peyton, his fastball was only reaching 88-90, topping out at 90. He has superb control and is inducing plenty of groundballs. We obviously need to see what he can do with more advanced hitting, but he is a guy to keep an eye on. Velocity alone pegs him as a 4-5 starter at best, but sometimes pinpoint control can go a bit further. Crawford disappoints us all, going a paltry 2 for 4 and a walk. It appears he could be a bust. Joaquin has been fun to follow thus far, giving up only 10 hits, 3 walks and striking out 15 in 10.2 IP (2.53 ERA).

O'Sullivan begins his rehab stint last night and does fairly well. I'm not a huge O'Sullivan fan and would have rather seen him go straight to AAA. Tyler Viza gets bumped to a mid-game start and gives up 3 runs in the top of the 9th to break the 1-1 tie. Despite a solo HR from Grullon in the bottom of the 9th (his 2nd of the year), the BlueClaws fall to 13-14 on the season. Malquin Canelo continues to prove me wrong about his bat, and I'm perfectly fine with it. Carlos Tocci with just his 2nd game ALL SEASON with not reaching base. We are 26 games in.
