NOTE: Earlier, I had Quinn's injury listed as 'serious' in the headline, but since we don't even know what it is yet, the truth is that it merely sounded serious. The Reading Eagle's Mike Drago was kind enough to point out how irresponsible this was of me, and he was right.
Reading Fightins outfielder and very exciting Phillies prospect Roman Quinn was 2-for-2 tonight, stealing his 29th base on the year. In his third at-bat against the Akron Aeroes in Reading tonight, Quinn suffered a left leg injury while busting his ass to first base. Things did not look good after the play.
This doesn't look good: Roman Quinn pulled something running hard to first. On ground clutching upper left thigh area #Phillies

Roman Quinn being helped off the field, grimacing in pain. Can't put any weight on left leg. #Phillies

The switch hitting Quinn was hitting .300/.351/.430 for the year as a Reading Fightin Phil with 28 SB and 6 3B and 6 2B in 230 AB. Citing his good health as the difference, he was recently credited with a smooth transition into his promotion to the Phillies' Double A affiliate.
It was exactly what you hate seeing happen to younger guys, and here's hoping Quinn's recovery is thorough and swift. Meanwhile, another Reading legend being forged before our eyes stepped in.
So much for Brock Stassi's night off. He's in to pinch run for Roman Quinn #Phillies
