I've gotta hand it to Kevin Correia. He did his job and did it well in last night's 13-inning battle with the Pirates. And then the next five relievers also did their job well. Hell, even Dustin McGowan, who allowed the winning run, didn't do badly. He pitched 1 2/3 innings, you can't really ask for too much more from him.
But that was then, even if just recently, and this is now. Now, we're dealing with Sean O'Sullivan. He isn't all that great, and he has the distinct possibility of even being putrid. His opponent, however, is the exact opposite. Gerrit Cole has an ERA of 1.73, which is three entire runs higher than O'Sullivan. So today's game should be fun.
Since it's 10:20am in the Minneapolis airport as I write this, lineups are shockingly not available right now. But I assure you, not only are there lineups, there will be actual baseball players behind each of those pitchers! I swear! That's apparently how baseball works! I KNOW!
Mere minutes from now, I'll be winging my way to Orange County, California. Allow me to invite you from the past to discuss the game in the comments below.
