Game 75 Open Thread: Nationals at Phillies

Ryne Sandberg? I'm sorry, there's no one here by that name.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

So, anything big happen today, guys? Har har har har harrrrrrr.

This marks Pete Mackanin's first game as a major league manager, since Ryne Sandberg has quit (answering all my prayers). What will he have to work with?

Today's Lineups

WASHINGTON NATIONALS PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
Denard Span - CF Odubel Herrera - CF
Danny Espinosa - 2B Cesar Hernandez - 2B
Yunel Escobar - 3B Maikel Franco - 3B
Clint Robinson - RF Ryan Howard - 1B
Wilson Ramos - C Domonic Brown - RF
Ian Desmond - SS Cody Asche - LF
Tyler Moore - 1B Cameron Rupp - C
Michael Taylor - LF Freddy Galvis - SS
Max Scherzer - RHP Aaron Harang - RHP

Oy. The Phillies lineup is the same as it ever was, but they're facing the Nationals and Max Scherzer. Scherzer very recently tossed an almost-perfect game, also known as a no-hitter. And besides that, Scherzer has been absolutely lights out lately. The Phillies have been showing some offensive non-suckiness lately, but mustering anything against the future NL Cy Young winner is going to be very, very hard.

Best of luck to Not Ryne Sandberg, AKA Pete Mackanin. We're pulling for you, mostly because you are not Ryne Sandberg.
