Game 54 Open Thread: Reds at Phillies

54 games in, are the Phillies better or worse than we thought they'd be?

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Tonight marks the official 1/3 mark of the season. Roughly 33% of the 2015's games have been played. Are the Phillies better or worse than we thought they'd be?

Let me answer that question with this:

Today's Lineups

CINCINNATI REDS PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
Brandon Phillips - 2B Odubel Herrera - CF
Joey Votto - 1B Jeff Francoeur - RF
Todd Frazier - 3B Chase Utley - 2B
Jay Bruce - RF Ryan Howard - 1B
Zack Cozart - SS Maikel Franco - 3B
Kris Negron - LF Cody Asche - LF
Tucker Barnhart - C Freddy Galvis - SS
Mike Leake - RHP Carlos Ruiz - C
Billy Hamilton - CF Cole Hamels - LHP

Yes, that's Jeff Francoeur playing right field and batting SECOND for the 2015 Philadelphia Phillies.

The Phillies aren't better or worse than I thought they'd be. They're a much different, strange, terrible, confused, awful mess than I could have ever imagined. Could you have imagined that? That Jeff Francoeur would be batting second for the Phillies in the year of our lord 2015?

I'm guessing Cole Hamels had no idea this is what would happen when he signed that contract on my birthday a few years ago. Stay strong, Cole. The Phillies can't possibly keep you much longer.

Or can they?
