Would you call last night's failed comeback a heartbreaker? I'm not sure I would. It wasn't the best thing ever, but they've had run of late-innings comebacks lately. The magic had to run out sometime. I just wish it didn't run out against the Giants. Couldn't you last one more game, mysterious baseball comeback magic?

Today's matchup seems, uh, a little mismatched. To say the least. (Though "mismatched matchup" sounds like it should be in the title of an early 60s kids' detective book. Encyclopedia Brown and the Case of the Mismatched Matchup.) Plus, I keep forgetting that Severino Gonzales is still part of the rotation. Not because I want to forget that the Phillies are indeed that bad, but because he makes no impression on me at all. And honestly, Severino Gonzales vs Madison Bumgarner? As Maeby Fünke says in Arrested Development (that I can't seem to find a clip of her saying), "that's like comparing apples and some fruit nobody's ever heard of." Preach, Maeby.
But best of luck to Severino Gonzalez! Against Madison Bumgarner! With Cesar Hernandez and Darin Ruf in for Chase Utley and Ryan Howard! Wheeeeee!
