Phillies Minor League Roundup - July 27, 2015

#BiddleDay

Today's Probables:

LHV: Jesse Biddle
REA: TBD (though assuming Ben Lively)
CLR: GM1 Victor Arano, GM2 Yacksel Rios
LWD: Ranfi Casimiro
WIL: Alejandro Arteaga

Lehigh Valley 3, Scranton/WB 1

Anthony Vasquez - 8 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 2 HBP, 7 GB, 7 FB
Dustin McGowan - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R
Chase d'Arnaud - 2 for 4, 2 R, K, SB
Tyler Henson - 2 for 3, R, 3B, BB, K
Brian Bogusevic - 0 for 3, BB, K, SB
Aaron Altherr - 1 for 3, 2 RBI, K (outfield assist, 2B)
Gabriel Lino - 0 for 4, K

Anthony Vasquez has put together 3 impressive starts, going 22 innings of 14 hit, 2 run, 5 walk ball with 8 strikeouts. He's had a very good season with the organization overall this season. He and McGowan were even able to shutdown the "untouchables" Aaron Judge and Greg Bird! Over his last 10 games, Aaron Altherr is batting .279 with 3 HR, 12 RBI, 2 SB and a slightly less pleasing 10:1 K/BB.

Erie 4, Reading 3

Zach Eflin - 2 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, K, 3 GB, 1 FB
Hoby Milner - 4 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 4 K, WP
Ethan Martin - 1 IP,1 H, 0 R, K
Ryan O'Sullivan - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Kelly Dugan - 1 for 3, BB
J.P. Crawford - 0 for 4, K
Cam Perkins - 1 for 4, HR
Brock Stassi - 0 for 3, BB
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 4, HR, K

Zach Eflin wasn't his sharpest and unfortunately had to be removed from the game after getting hit by a groundball in the 3rd inning. In case you missed it, TGP commenter Missing Jamie Moyer went to the game and gave an excellent report of the game that does far more justice than my incoherent ramblings. Andrew Knapp hit his 2nd HR with Reading and Cam Perkins hit his 10th.

Clearwater, Bradenton (postponed due to rain, will be made up with doubleheader today)

Kannapolis 1, Lakewood 0

Tyler Viza - 9 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 6 K, 9 GB, 7 FB
Herlis Rodriguez - 0 for 4, K
Scott Kingery - 0 for 4, K
Kyle Martin - 1 for 4, K
Damek Tomscha - 0 for 3
Cord Sandberg - 0 for 3
Jiandido Tromp - 1 for 2, BB

Tyler Viza pitched a spectacular game and went a career high 9 innings. His previous high was an 8 inning effort earlier this season. The BlueClaw offense was baffled by opposing pitcher Luis Martinez. Deivi Grullon caught the first two innings before leaving the game. Not sure what the circumstances were.

GCL Phillies, GCL Pirates (suspended after a half inning due to rain, will be part of doubleheader today)

The last 5 attempted games have been rained out for the GCL Phils.
