Phillies Minor League Roundup - July 28, 2015

#KilomeDay

Today's Probables:

LHV: Sean O'Sullivan
REA: Ben Lively
CLR: Brandon Leibrandt
WIL: Franklyn Kilome

Sorry for the short writeups (or non-existing ones). I have a meetings all morning, but wanted to get this up before that happened.

Scranton/WB 5, Lehigh Valley 3

Jesse Biddle - 5 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 4 K, 3 GB, 4 FB (pickoff error)
Cesar Jimenez - 0.2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, K
Nefi Ogando - 2.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K, HBP
Tyler Henson - 1 for 4, R, K
Brian Bogusevic - 2 for 4, R, 2B
Aaron Altherr - 2 for 3, R, RBI, BB, K
KC Serna - 0 for 3, K

Jesse Biddle had a really bad 1st inning, committing 3 walks and his pickoff error. After that he threw 1 hit, 2 walk and 3 strikeout ball in 4 innings. Yeah, yeah, you can't discount the bad innings, but breaking it down like this at least gives you a different perspective. On the brightside, in 4 starts opponents are only hitting .178 against Biddle. Though, perhaps that is because he has walked 16 in 20 innings.

Reading 4, Erie 3

Chris Leroux - 7 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, 5 K, 9 GB, 3 FB
Colton Murray - 2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, K
Kelly Dugan - 1 for 4, RBI, K, HBP
J.P. Crawford - 0 for 4 (fielding error)
Cam Perkins - 0 for 2, R, 2 BB, K
Brock Stassi - 2 for 4, R, 2 2B
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 3, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, 2 K (passed ball)
Brian Pointer - 1 for 4, 2B

Chris Leroux is loaned to Reading to help make a spot start for the Fightin's. He earned the no decision and pitched fairly well. Reading scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th to win the game. Kelly Dugan delivered the walkoff single to score Harold Martinez. J.P. Crawford is slumping a bit, going .211/.292/.421 in his last 15 games (57 AB and a .200 BABIP). Colton Murray got the win and improved to 6-1. Despite the run given up tonight, he has little left to prove in AA.

Clearwater 4, Bradenton 1 (GM1 of doubleheader, 7 innings)

Victor Arano - 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 6 GB, 4 FB
Ulises Joaquin - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Carlos Tocci - 2 for 4, K
Malquin Canelo - 2 for 2, R, RBI, SB
Andrew Pullin - 1 for 4, 2B, RBI
Rhys Hoskins - 1 for 3, 2B, RBI, BB, K (fielding and throwing errors)
Chace Numata - 0 for 3, RBI, BB
Willians Astudillo - 0 for 4
Aaron Brown - 1 for 2, BB

Victor Arano has been outstanding in his last 10 games (58.1 IP), giving up 48 H, 16 ER, 9 walks and striking out 28. He is holding opponents to a .233 batting average over that stretch (.261 BABIP). It looks like he is finally healthy again. He is still an impressive get for Roberto Hernandez regardless. According to MLB Pipeline, "non-prospect" Rhys Hoskins improved his High-A line to .291/.388/.470 in 117 at-bats.

Bradenton 2, Clearwater 1 (GM2 of doubleheader, makeup of 7/27 ppd, 7 innings)

Yacksel Rios - 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 K, 5 GB, 2 FB
Alexis Rivero - 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 K
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 3 (fielding error)
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 3
Rhys Hoskins - 0 for 3, K
Dylan Cozens - 1 for 2, R, BB
Chace Numata - 1 for 2, K
Aaron Brown - 0 for 2, BB
Malquin Canelo - 1 for 3, RBI

Yacksel Rios pitches well being thrust back into the starter role. The offense stalled, going 1 for 3 with RISP and leaving 4 on base.

Kannapolis 3, Lakewood 1

Ranfi Casimiro - 6.2 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, HBP, 7 GB, 5 FB
Jairo Munoz - 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R
Calvin Rayburn - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Chase Harris - 1 for 5, R, 2B
Herlis Rodriguez - 2 for 3, BB
Scott Kingery - 1 for 4, RBI, K, SB (fielding error)
Kyle Martin - 0 for 4
Damek Tomscha - 1 for 4
Cord Sandberg - 0 for 3, BB, K
Jiandido Tromp - 0 for 3, HBP
Jose Mayorga - 2 for 3, BB
Emmanuel Marrero - 1 for 3 (fielding error)

Ranfi Casimiro pitches well, but falls to 6-6 on the season (3.20 ERA, 1.19 WHIP). The tall righty is having a very good season repeating Lakewood. The offense doesn't help him much. Scott Kingery stole his 2nd base and Herlis Rodriguez improved his season line to .296/.336/.447.

Alejandro Arteaga - 5 IP, 6 H, 3 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 3 K, HBP, 3 GB, 4 FB

Carlos Duran - 0 for 3, 3 K (fielding error)
Gregori Rivero - 1 for 3, HR, 2 RBI, K
Grenny Cumana - 1 for 2, 2 R, BB
