Weekend Probables:

LHV: Alec Asher, GM1 Jerad Eickhoff, GM2 TBD, TBD
REA: Zach Eflin, Jake Thompson, TBD
CLR: Yacksel Rios, David Whitehead, Victor Arano
LWD: Shane Watson, Will Morris, Tyler Viza
WIL: Luke Leftwich, Alejandro Arteaga, Franklyn Kilome

Syracuse 11, Lehigh Valley 2

Jesse Biddle - 3.2 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, HR, 2 WP, HBP, 2 GB, 2 FB (throwing error)
Brian Bogusevic - 2 for 4, K
Aaron Altherr - 0 for 3, BB
Tyler Henson - 0 for 3, K
Kelly Dugan - 0 for 1 (PH)
Gabriel Lino - 1 for 4, K (passed ball)
KC Serna - 1 for 1, 2B, BB

There really can't be too many excuses for Biddle's performance last night. He has been shelled for runs/hits in his last 3 starts to the tune of 26 hits in 15 innings. You have to hope they are still just fine tuning his pitches and just rolling with whatever the results might be. Altherr with another hitless game.

Reading 3, Harrisburg 0

Nick Pivetta - 5.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, BB, 8 K, 2 GB, 2 FB
Tom Windle - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Nick Williams - 2 for 4, RBI (fielding error)
J.P. Crawford - 0 for 3, BB
Cam Perkins - 1 for 4
Brock Stassi - 1 for 4, R, K
Andrew Knapp - 2 for 3, HR, BB
Harold Martinez - 0 for 3, BB
Angelo Mora - 0 for 3, R (fielding error)

Nick Pivetta finally flashing that potential after two less than stellar outings since being traded to the Phillies. He started out with a bang last night, striking out the side in order. Nick Williams has hit safely in 8 of his 9 games since coming over from the Texas Ranger organization and is batting .415/.442/.756 in 41 at bats. Andrew Knapp surprised absolutely no one and launched his 7th HR with Reading (9th overall) in the 8th inning. His triple line looks like .411/.459/.709 in 141 at bats in AA. This peak isn't exactly sustainable, but that doesn't prevent you from drooling over the prospect that a really good bat could be emerging at a position where we will have a big need in the immediate future. Heck, even if he can't play catcher at the major league level, his bat could certainly play elsewhere.

Clearwater 6, Tampa 4

Mark Leiter - 6 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 7 K, HR, 2 WP, 4 GB, 4 FB
Jesen Therrien - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, K, WP
Miguel Nunez - 2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 3, R, 2 BB, SB
Carlos Tocci - 0 for 5, RBI, K
Andrew Pullin - 2 for 3, R, 3B, BB
Rhys Hoskins - 0 for 3, BB, K
Willians Astudillo - 2 for 3, R, BB
Chace Numata - 1 for 4, R, RBI, K
Aaron Brown - 2 for 4, HR

Mark Leiter remains banished to to the FSL, but as a non-prospect it really doesn't matter too much. He was overmatched in AA and I'd like to see the Phillies look to convert him into a reliever next season (with the glut of SP prospects, it might happen anyway). Aaron Brown hit a solo HR in the 6th, his 9th HR of the season. Canelo walked twice and stole his 6th base with Clearwater and has 16 swipes across two levels. Astudillo added two hits while DHing last night and leads the FSL in batting average. He has a comfortable lead (.330) over the next batter (.312).

Williamsport 7, Staten Island 3

Tyler Gilbert - 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, 7 K, HBP, 2 GB, 3 FB
Carlos Duran - 1 for 3, R, 2 BB, K, 2 SB
Venn Biter - 2 for 5, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2 K
Josh Tobias - 3 for 5, R, 2B, 2 RBI, K, CS, picked off
Jose Pujols - 0 for 5, K (throwing error)
Jesus Posso - 1 for 5, R, RBI, K
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 2, RBI, 2 BB, K
Austin Bossart - 2 for 4, RBI, CS
Dylan Bosheers - 2 for 4, R, K
William Cuicas - 1 for 4, R, K

Tyler Gilbert has been fantastic in his last two starts, going 10 innings and giving up 12 hits, 3 earned runs, walking 2 and striking out 14. He has an impressive 36:5 K/BB ratio on the season in 32 innings. The Crosscutters went 5 for 12 with RISP and outhit the Yankees 12-9. Josh Tobias has been having a great season at the plate, slashing .315/.351/.457 with 17 XBH and 6 steals. Jose Pujols continues to struggle in his last 20 or so games. I wonder what kind of adjustments the coaching staff are giving him. He has a .261 BABIP in his last 25 games.

GCL Pirates 7, GCL Phillies 3

Edgar Garcia - 3 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 K, HR, WP, 2 GB, 2 FB
Luis Morales - 3 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, 3 K, 2 WP
Victor Delgado - 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, K, WP
Tanner Kiest - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Arquimedes Gamboa - 0 for 4, 2 K
Jonathan Arauz - 1 for 4, R, RBI
Cornelius Randolph - 1 for 3, R, 3B, RBI, BB, SB
Tommy Joseph - 2 for 4, RBI (fielding error)
Luis Encarnacion - 1 for 4
Juan Luis - 0 for 3, K
Lucas Williams - 1 for 3, BB, K, SB
Bryan Martelo - 0 for 4, 2 K (fielding error)
Rodolfo Duran - 1 for 2, R, 2B
Greg Brodzinski - 0 for 2
