Phillies Minor League Roundup - August 18, 2015

Today's Probables:

LHV: Anthony Vasquez
REA: Zach Eflin
CLR: Mark Leiter
LWD: Elneiry Garcia
WIL: Tyler Gilbert

Lehigh Valley 3, Scranton/WB 1

Sean O'Sullivan - 8.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 9 K, 9 GB, 4 FB
Brian Bogusevic - 2 for 4, R
Tyler Henson - 1 for 3, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, K
Kelly Dugan - 1 for 4, K
Tommy Joseph - 0 for 4, K
Gabriel Lino - 0 for 4, 2 K

Sean O'Sullivan throws an absolute gem for the IronPigs last night en route to his 2nd win of the season. The offense didn't have to do much, but LHV managed to score all 3 of their runs in the top of the 3rd with the big damage coming from a 2-run RBI double from Tyler Henson. Kelly Dugan has been a little slow out of the gate in AAA so far, batting .222/.296/.286 in 63 at bats.

Reading 6, New Hampshire 5

Nick Pivetta - 3.2 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, HR, WP, HBP, 1 GB, 5 FB
Edubray Ramos - 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Reinier Roibal - 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Ryan O'Sullivan - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB
Nick Williams - 2 for 4, R, K
J.P. Crawford - 0 for 4, K
Cam Perkins - 0 for 4
Brock Stassi - 1 for 2, R, RBI, 2 BB
Andrew Knapp - 2 for 4, 2 R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, K
Angelo Mora - 2 for 3, R, BB, K
Harold Martinez - 1 for 4, R, 3B, RBI, 2 K
Brian Pointer - 0 for 4, RBI, 2 K

Nick Pivetta was a mess last night after a breakthrough start last week. He threw only 45 of his 82 pitches for strikes. The bullpen was solid in relief, giving the Fightins 5.1 shutout innings to aid the offense in crawling back. Brock Stassi delivered a RBI single in the 5th to bring Reading within 2 of tying the game up. This then brought up Andrew Knapp with a runner on 1st to smack his 8th HR with Reading, tying the ballgame. Angelo Mora would single in the bottom of the 8th to score Knapp (after he had lead off the inning with a double) with the aid of a throwing error from the pitcher.

Clearwater 9, Dunedin 4

Matt Imhof - 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 6 GB, 3 FB
Alberto Tirado - 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 3 K
Jesmuel Valentin - 1 for 5, R, 2B, RBI
Carlos Tocci - 2 for 5, K, CS, picked off
Dylan Cozens - 2 for 3, 3 R, 2B, 2 BB
Rhys Hoskins - 2 for 4, R, 2B, HR, 4 RBI, BB
Willians Astudillo - 2 for 4, 2B, 2 RBI
Aaron Brown - 3 for 5, 2 R, HR, K
Chace Numata - 0 for 5
Malquin Canelo - 1 for 4, R, 2B, K

Matt Imhof bounced back from a poor effort last week with a solid start last night. He is 7-4 on the season with a 3.72 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and a .249 opponent batting average (65.1 innings). His biggest problem this season aside from below average velocity is the amount of walks he has issued (36). Where to start with the offense? Rhys Hoskins is really good guys, he is making the SAL and FSL look like nothing. Last night he added his 14th double and 7th HR with Clearwater and is slashing .310/.392/.511 in 184 High-A at-bats. Aaron Brown launched his 10th HR of the season and is OPSing .724 in 340 at-bats. Forgotten man, Dylan Cozens improved his triple slash to .284/.334/.421. Last season he had a K% of 28.8, which is down to a 21.6. That is a fantastic improvement.

Delmarva 8, Lakewood 2

Austin Davis - 6 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 5 BB, 2 K, 2 WP, HBP, 7 GB, 5 FB
Scott Harris - 2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, 2 K
Matt Hockenberry - 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, K, WP
Herlis Rodriguez - 1 for 4, BB, K (throwing error)
Scott Kingery - 1 for 4, RBI
Kyle Martin - 0 for 4, K
Cord Sandberg - 1 for 3, BB (outfield assist, 2B)
Jiandido Tromp - 2 for 4, K
Deivi Grullon - 1 for 4 (fielding error, passed ball)
Joel Fisher - 0 for 4, 3 K
Emmanuel Marrero - 1 for 3, 2 R, K, HBP

Austin Davis gives up a season-high 5 earned runs in last night's game, eclipsing the 4-run game from 7/23 & 7/30. The BlueClaw offense went 2 for 9 with RISP and left 8 on base. Tromp with the lone multi-hit performance, but is still batting an embarrassing .196.

GCL Phillies 2, GCL Astros 1

Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, 3 K
Luis Morales - 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 6 K, HBP, 3 GB, 1 FB
Edgar Garcia - 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, WP
Ismael Cabrera - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 K
Jose Antequera - 1 for 4, SB
Jonathan Arauz - 0 for 3, BB, K
Cornelius Randolph - 0 for 4, K
Scott Tomassetti - 0 for 4
Edgar Cabral - 1 for 4, R
Juan Luis - 0 for 3, R, BB
Lucas Williams - 0 for 2, BB, K
Greg Pickett - 1 for 4, 2B
Greg Brodzinski - 2 for 3, RBI

Another MAG rehab assignment sighting. In two appearances, he has thrown 4 innings and given up 4 hits, two walks and has struck out 4. The 28 year old Cuban righty (29 in a month) could see assignment to Clearwater or higher once the brass deem he is ready. Cornelius Randolph with a rare 0 for 4 effort, something he has only done now 4 times this season in 43 games.
