Today's Probables:

LHV: Sean O'Sullivan
REA: Zach Eflin
CLR: John Richy
LWD: Austin Davis
WIL: Tyler Gilbert

Lehigh Valley 7, Buffalo 4

David Buchanan - 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, K, 13 GB, 0 FB
Colton Murray - 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, K
Dalier Hinojosa - 1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, K

Tommy Joseph - 0 for 4 (fielding error)
Gabriel Lino - 2 for 4, R, 2B, RBI, K
Tyler Henson - 2 for 4, 2B, 2 RBI, K

David Buchanan sported one of the more curious lines of the evening, keeping the ball on the ground or completely out of the strikezone. He threw 57 of his 93 pitches for strikes. Colton Murray is having a solid AAA campaign this season, striking out 37 and only allowing 23 hits in 38 innings (he has though walked 20). The offense made most of their opportunities despite matching the Bison in hits with 10 a-piece and broke open the game by going up 6-1 by the end of the 4th. Buffalo would tag on 3 runs in the 9th inning. Brian Bogusevic leads the team in total bases with 183 and his .355 OBP is 8th best in the International League.

Reading 11, Altoona 5

Nick Pivetta - 7 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, HR, HBP, 6 GB, 6 FB
Nick Williams - 4 for 6, 4 R, 2B, HR, K
J.P. Crawford - 3 for 5, 2 R, 3B, 2 RBI (fielding error)
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 5, HR, 5 RBI
Brock Stassi - 2 for 3, 2 R, 2B, 2 BB
Harold Martinez - 2 for 4, BB

Nick Pivetta held his own and picked up a quality start while his offense woke up after a quiet weekend. He went a season-high 7 innings and threw 62 of his 102 pitches for strikes. The Reading coaches are likely tinkering with some things, but Pivetta has struggled with controlling his pitches (5.5 BB/9). Nick Williams had a huge 4-hit night and now has 10 multi-hit games in 19 games overall with Reading. His HR was his 4th with the Fightins and 17th overall this season. Crawford added his 7th triple and Knapp smacked his 10th HR, 3-run shot in the 6th inning).

Clearwater 2, Daytona 0

Andrew Pullin - 2 for 4, K
Chace Numata - 0 for 4, 2 K
Aaron Brown - 0 for 3, K
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 3, K

Mark Leiter and the bullpen pitched a highly effective 4-hit shutout. Mark Leiter improved to 6-1 in CLR and lowered his era to 2.04. The offense got all they needed when Rhys Hoskins walked in a run with the bases loaded. Willians Astudillo is now batting .472 in his last 10 games (there isn't another player in minor league baseball quite like "Teddy" Willians. Carlos Tocci has been in a terrible funk, batting .128 in his last 10 games and could likely use a break from the top of the lineup.

His other 6-strikeout game came in his pro-debut, where he oddly only 2.2 innings. Funnily enough, Jose Pujols crushed his 2nd HR of the season after this great Matt Winkleman piece. His HR was ultimately the deciding factor as Williamsport moved to 40-22.
