Today's Probables:
LHV: Anthony Vasquez
REA: Jake Thompson
LWD: Elneiry Garcia
WIL: Jose Tavares
Lehigh Valley 9, Buffalo 3
Sean O'Sullivan - 7 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 K, 8 GB, 2 FB
Seth Rosin - 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 K
Brian Bogusevic - 2 for 3, 2 R, HR, 2 BB
Kelly Dugan - 2 for 4, R, 2B, 2 RBI, BB
Tyler Henson - 2 for 5, R, 2B
Tommy Joseph - 4 for 5, R, 2B, 2 RBI
Logan Moore - 2 for 4, R, BB
Occasionally, Sean O'Sullivan shows capabilities of being a decent pitcher. He has managed to only give up 3 earned runs in his last 2 starts (15.1 IP). Brian Bogusevic has been a nice story to follow all season and should get a shot at some MLB roster as a backup outfielder next season. His HR last night was his 12th of the season and is slashing .298/.359/.434 with 24 steals. Kelly Dugan has had some growing pains in AAA, but had a very good game last night. He didn't strikeout for the first time in his last 5 games (9 K during that span). Joseph's 4 hits were the most he's had in a game since May 4, 2014.
Altoona 3, Reading 2
Zach Eflin - 7 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 5 K, 10 GB, 5 FB
Ryan O'Sullivan - 1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, WP
Nick Williams - 0 for 5
J.P. Crawford - 0 for 4, R, BB, 2 K (fielding error)
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 3, BB, K
Brock Stassi - 1 for 4, R, K
Harold Martinez - 1 for 4, K
KC Serna - 1 for 2, BB, HBP
I was only able to catch 2 innings of this game, but Zach Eflin looked really good. I'll likely go back and watch the entire thing this morning. Ryan O'Sullivan came in with 2-1 lead and promptly gave it away with a two-run bottom of the 8th. It was his 2nd blown save and loss of the season. The offense really should look to save some of those hits/runs for other games as they came up short, going 1 for 13 with RISP.
Daytona 2, Clearwater 0
John Richy - 7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, BB, 3 K, HBP, 9 GB, 4 FB (pickoff error)
Yacksel Rios - 2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, BB, 3 K
Jesmuel Valentin - 1 for 3, 2 K
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 4
Dylan Cozens - 0 for 3, BB, K
Rhys Hoskins - 0 for 3, BB, 2 K (pickoff error)
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 4, K
Willians Astudillo - 0 for 4 (passed ball)
Aaron Brown - 0 for 3, BB, K
Malquin Canelo - 1 for 2, BB, K, 2 CS
The impressive organizational debut from John Richy was let down by both the rotation spot he replaced and the offense. Yackel Rios had been surprisingly good out of the rotation, but struggled en route to his 4th loss of the season. The offense was outhit 6-3 and went 0 for 8 with RISP.
Lakewood 6, Hagerstown 3
Austin Davis - 5 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 2 HBP, 6 GB, 1 FB
Jairo Munoz - 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, 4 K, WP
Matt Hockenberry - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Herlis Rodriguez - 0 for 3, BB (outfield assist, 3B)
Scott Kingery - 0 for 4
Damek Tomscha - 1 for 4, R, K
Kyle Martin - 1 for 4, R
Cord Sandberg - 2 for 3, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB
Jiandido Tromp - 2 for 4, 2 R, 3B, RBI, K
Deivi Grullon - 1 for 3, RBI, K
Becoming a starter has had mixed results for Austin Davis. Since July 9th, he has thrown 44 innings and given up 38 hits, 22 earned runs, 17 walks and struck out 34. That comes out to a 4.50 ERA, .235 opp. BA and a .281 babip. Matt Hockenberry logged his 15th save with a clean 9th inning. Herlis Rodriguez added his league leading 19th outfield assist. Jiandido Tromp is batting .299/.345/.494 in his last 20 games with 3 HR (77 AB).
Williamsport 2, State College 1

Mark Laird - 1 for 2, R, BB
Josh Tobias - 0 for 3 (throwing error)
Jose Pujols - 2 for 3, HR, 2 RBI, K
Brendon Hayden - 1 for 3
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 3, 3 K
Jesus Posso - 0 for 3
Austin Bossart - 0 for 3 (fielding error)
William Cuicas - 1 for 3, K
Tyler Gilbert pitched his best game of his pro career and went a career-high 6 innings. He threw 56 of his 83 pitches for strikes and improved to 4-3 with a 2.79 ERA. After going down 1-0 after the top of the first, Jose Pujols launched his 3rd HR of the season (a two-run shot) in the bottom of the 1st. This is his second HR in as many games and it would also hold up to be the game-winner.
