Thank God for the Padres. I mean it. That four-game series with the Mets was so terrible that it was pretty much a human rights violation, and what the players AND the fans really needed was a good game. A really *good* game. And the Padres were able to supply that. I will be forever grateful to them, because I was on the edge of running away screaming forever.
Tonight the Phillies get another chance to beat the Padres into submission and improve everyone's confidence, self-esteem, and overall outlook on life. Thankfully, they already did that last night, so the pressure's off a little bit. Let's see what tonight's lineups look like.
Aaron Altherr is starting against another right-handed pitcher. I like that Pete Mackanin is showing confidence in him. I also like that Mackanin isn't afraid to shuffle his players around. He's kept his word that everyone will play everywhere. Tonight, Odubel Herrera is at center, with Aaron Altherr moves over to left field. Darnell Sweeney is at second, moving Cesar Hernandez to third and Andres Blanco to the bench. Whew.
