Guys, we could be looking at the last days of Chase Utley in a Philadelphia Phillies uniform.
On Thursday, the Phils activated their 36-year-old second baseman from the disabled list, and manager Pete Mackanin said he will play about 4-5 times a week, as Cesar Hernandez, Freddy Galvis and Odubel Herrera move around all over the place in order for everyone to get some playing time. And with Utley's vesting option for 2016 now out the window, he is an impending free agent. That means two things.
One, we could be seeing Chase Utley for the very last time in a Phils uniform. And two, it's highly possible the Phillies are going to trade him in a matter of weeks. So, say your goodbyes now, guys.
On TGP Radio this week, I also talked about some interesting comments made by Jimmy Rollins about the dearly departed Ryne Sandberg and the possibility of Mackanin remaining on as skipper of the Phillies in 2016 with Phils beat writer Megan Montemurro of The News Journal in Delaware.
