Game 141 Open Thread: Cubs at Phillies

Memories...light the corners of my mind....

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The last time these two teams faced each other, the Phillies swept the Cubs in three games, the second of which featured a no-hitter thrown by Cole Hamels.

Things have changed since then. Things have changed a LOT. Cole Hamels is on some team far away from here, and that hot streak the Phillies were riding has long since gone cold. OH GOD THE MEMORIES.

I'm fine. You know what, why don't we get to today's Sesame Street clip before the soul-sucking blackness consumes my very spirit.

MONSTERPIECE THEATER. That is a thing that exists! Cookie Monster is Alistair Cookie wearing a smoking jacket and wearing a pipe! If that's not on your list of the top ten most awesome things of all time, I can't help you. And then, somehow, it gets even better. Alistair Cookie introduces The Sound of Music starring Grover, the furry blue monster. Well, Grover and a hill that comes alive once he finally hears the sound of music. There are a bunch of ridiculous jokes crammed into 90 seconds, and at the same time it actually teaches what music sounds like. It's brilliant.

Ahh, that's so much better. Now I can get to the lineups.

Today's Lineups

CHICAGO CUBS PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES
Dexter Fowler - CF Cesar Hernandez - 2B
Austin Jackson - RF Freddy Galvis - SS

This is game one of the post-Ruben Amaro era. Scott Proefrock is the interim GM, but interim GMs don't get eras named after them. In fact, the next actual GM might not have an era named after him. Maybe the days ahead will be known as the Andy MacPhail era. Onward toward the future!
