Pete Mackanin: Mr. Manager!

Congratulations to Pete Mackanin, newly minted non-interim manager of the Phillies. Yay! Just saying "manager" doesn't seem special enough. You're just removing the word "interim", and removing a word isn't very exciting or momentous. And I don't think giving him a new title would work, because no one would know what he did. Calling him Grand Poobah doesn't really tell you anything. So right now, let's celebrate his semi-permanent status by calling him non-interim manager. In 2016, we'll all be ready to call you just manager. Or Mister Manager if you like.

In other news, I feel like kissing the person who snuck a few off days in the home stretch here. There was one yesterday, two earlier this month, and one more this coming Monday! Thank you, scheduling gods! And speaking of the home stretch, here's today's Sesame Street clip.

This clip is brilliant. Funky, catchy music by the Pointer Sisters. Eye-catching animation. You listen to this once and you're singing it all day. Kids probably didn't even know they were learning how to count. I know I didn't! Seriously, how did my mom not kill me after the seven millionth time I sang this while running up and down the stairs? The woman is a saint.

And now it is time for the lineups.

Today's Lineups

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES MIAMI MARLINS
Freddy Galvis - SS Dee Gordon - 2B
Aaron Altherr - LF Donovan Solano - 3B
Odubel Herrera - CF Christian Yelich - CF
Darin Ruf - 1B Justin Bour - 1B
Brian Bogusevic - RF Marcell Ozuna - RF
Andres Blanco - 2B Derek Dietrich - LF
Erik Kratz - C J.T. Realmuto - C
Cody Asche - 3B Miguel Rojas - SS
Aaron Harang - RHP Tom Koehler - RHP

It's hard for me to get excited about a Marlins lineup without The Mighty Giancarlo Stanton. It's also hard for me to get excited about a Phillies lineup WITH Aaron Harang. Like, I'm sure he's a great guy and everything, but yikers. Yiiiiiikers. These days, I'm not even asking him to not suck. I'm asking him to suck gently. Or mediocrely. It's the end of the season, we're all tired. No need to bring out the big suck-guns.
