Hey, the Phillies won last night! And they hit some homers! That is super awesome. If for no other reason than the constant, relentless losing was starting to get to me. And by "starting to get to me" I really mean "I'd booked a suite at the local looney bin and was packing my bags for a long vacation." Thank God for the Marlins. Wow. I bet that's a sentence that doesn't get said much.
Sesame Street clip time!
Teeny Little Super Guy sounds like Jimmy Durante swallowed a vocoder and a bunch of gravel. It's not exactly soothing. But it is memorable! I love that theme song. And this segment about the importance of practice is adorable and funny. TLSG narrating his conversation as he's having it is genius. So is this exchange: "Quitting is no fun." "Neither is falling off an egg beater!" He put training beaters on the big egg beater to help the little kid keep his (her?) balance! Training beaters! God I love Sesame Street.
Teeny Little Super Guy says that practice makes perfect. But the Phillies have played 151 games. I think this is as good as they're getting.
Cody Asche and Darin Ruf are each going to do one good thing every month and the Phillies will keep them forever and I will buy their jerseys and wear them both at the same time so my front says ASCHE and my back says RUF because THEY HAVE DRIVEN ME INSANE. And David Buchanan is pitching today? It's a celebration of suck! At least against the Marlins the Phillies have a chance. Though that's what I said about the Braves last weekend and look what happened.
