The weekend was busy, folks. Not if you’re a Phillies fan, but if you’re a fan of baseball in general. The Rangers got swept by the Blue Jays, who are headed to the ALCS. Both the Dodgers-Nationals and Indians-Red Sox games got rained out once, but there’s no threat of weather tonight.
Tonight we’ve got three games, so from 4pm to at least midnight, there’s significant baseball for you to watch.
4:00 pm ET: Nationals at Dodgers — I don’t want to tell you how to live your life, but DO NOT SUPPORT THE NATIONALS. I don’t love the Dodgers either, but since Cole Hamels has been unceremoniously bounced from the playoffs, supporting the Dodgers is the only way you can support former Phillies.
6:00 pm ET: Indians at Red Sox — The Indians have somehow gone 2-0 on the Red Sox, and so Boston is facing elimination. I want Cleveland to win only because they’re a hard luck team from a hard luck city and Ohio is pretty miserable and it would make some of the people who live around me happy for a few flickering seconds.
9:30 pm ET: Cubs at Giants — This time I am going to tell you how to live your life: do not root for the Giants. I don’t care if 2010 was six years ago or whatever. I don’t care. The Giants cannot be allowed to continue in the playoffs. They must be stopped at all costs. There is no middle ground. Stop them here and now, or forever live to regret it. The Cubs will have to get through human buzzsaw pitcher Madison Bumgarner, so good luck to them.
Please share your thoughts and feelings about these games in the comments below. Let’s laugh together, cry together, and hope for a future where the Phillies are one day part of this again. It can’t come soon enough.
