Remember a few days ago when we said Cuban prospect Lazaro "Lazarito" Armenteros was close to picking one of the nine teams courting him, which included the Phillies? It turns out that he is not close to picking teams, and there may be more than nine of them.
Lazarito's agent Charles Hairston says player is not close to a decision. New teams in the mix for July 2 & he's still considering (1/3)— Jesse Sanchez (@JesseSanchezMLB) February 12, 2016

"For a 16 year-old, it's easy to want to just play ball. But he wants to do what's best for his family. He's being very mature."(3/3)— Jesse Sanchez (@JesseSanchezMLB) February 12, 2016
Yes, yes; we were all extremely mature 16-year-olds faced with decisions like this, so we've all been there.
As reported, the Phillies either will have to explode their international bonus pool money to sign Lazarito, or convince/trick him into putting off signing with a team until the 2016/2017 signing period. A deal of this magnitude would also shatter any of the Phillies' verbal agreements with international prospects for the next signing period.
Hopefully he picks a team soon because I am running out of pictures of Phillies hats.
