Today's Probables:

CLR: John Richy
LWD: Luke Leftwich

Lehigh Valley 2, Scranton/WB 0

Zach Eflin - 6.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, BB, 6 K, 2 HBP, 6 GB, 5 FB
Colton Murray - 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K, HBP
Edward Mujica - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Darnell Sweeney - 0 for 4, 3 K
Brock Stassi - 1 for 4, R, K
Tommy Joseph - 1 for 4, HR
Cam Perkins - 1 for 3, K

Zach Eflin has been pretty good so far, eh? His second shutout effort of the season last night. In 26.1 IP he has struck out 22 and only walked 3. Eflin and the bullpen had to be perfect because the offense was pretty anemic. Despite scoring 2 runs, they were 0 for 1 with RISP, left 4 on-base and struck out 11 times (while drawing no walks). The go-ahead run was scored in the top of the 7th via a Will Veneble sacrifice fly to score Stassi. Tommy Joseph added a solo homerun in the top of the 9th (his 4th of the season). Joseph has to be one of the best stories of the Phillies minor league season thus far.

Reading 11, Akron 2

Anthony Vasquez - 7 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, 4 K, HR, 14 GB, 1 FB
Tom Windle - 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 K
Roman Quinn - 1 for 5, R, BB, 2 K, SB
J.P. Crawford - 1 for 3, 2 R, 2 BB
Dylan Cozens - 2 for 2, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI, 3 BB, SB
Rhys Hoskins - 1 for 3, R, RBI, BB, HBP
Jesmuel Valentin - 1 for 3, RBI, K
Harold Martinez - 2 for 5, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, K (fielding error)
Logan Moore - 2 for 4, HR, 2 RBI, BB

Anthony Vasquez is enjoying mowing down Eastern League hitters. The 29 year old minor league journeyman is sporting a 1.95 ERA and 1.01 WHIP through 27.2 innings. He wouldn't need much help as Reading obliterated the RubberDucks pitching. Dylan Cozens had a monster day, collecting his 5th HR and 5th SB in the game all the while drawing 3 base on balls. This is a day after striking out 3 times in a game. Baseball. Light-hitting catcher Logan Moore swatted his first dinger of the season and Harold Martinez hit his 2nd. J.P. Crawford is a treasure and one that is probably not long for Reading the way he is producing.

Clearwater 14, Daytona 2

Matt Imhof - 6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 7 K, 4 GB, 3 FB
Ulises Joaquin - 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 K, HR, WP
Joey Denato - 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, K
Scott Kingery - 1 for 4, 3 R, HR, BB, K
Cord Sandberg - 2 for 5, 2 R, 2B, 2 RBI, K
Carlos Tocci - 2 for 5, 2 R, 2 RBI, K
Kyle Martin - 3 for 5, 2 R, 2B, 2 RBI, K
Mitch Walding - 2 for 5, 2 R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI
Drew Stankiewicz - 2 for 5, R, 2B, 3B, 3 RBI, K
Malquin Canelo - 1 for 5, R, 2 K
Gabriel Lino - 0 for 3, R, 2 BB, K
Derek Campbell - 0 for 4, 2 K

Despite throwing 56 of his 91 pitches for strikes, Imhof still walks 5 batters in the game. He finished off the bottom of the 5th with a 1-run lead. He would leave the game in the 6th inning with a 13 run lead. In the top of the 6th the Threshers scored 12 runs on 11 hits (5 singles, 4 doubles, 1 triple, 1 HR) and 2 walks. Scott Kingery led the inning off with his 1st HR of the season (he also leads the league in doubles with 6). Walding's 9th inning solo HR was his 6th of the season, which is 2nd in the FSL.

Charleston 3, Lakewood 2

Shane Watson - 7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, BB, 5 K, HR, 9 GB, 5 FB
Zach Morris - 1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER
Jacob Waguespack - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, HBP
Emmanuel Marrero - 0 for 4, K
Josh Tobias - 1 for 4, K
Wilson Garcia - 0 for 4, 2 K
Jose Pujols - 0 for 3, BB, 3 K
Damek Tomscha - 1 for 4, R, 2B
Jiandido Tromp - 0 for 3, SB
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 3, K
Joel Fisher - 0 for 3, 2 K
Venn Biter - 0 for 2, K
Samuel Hiciano - 1 for 1, HR (pinch hitter)

After a rough first start, Shane Watson has been dialed in his last three. Following this outing, he lowered his ERA and WHIP to 2.63 and 0.96, respectively. He is also holding opponents to a .183 batting average. Watson finally seems healthy after an injury plagued start to his career. This Lakewood season just hasn't gone very well to start the season. When they can't score runs, their pitchers usually do well...when they score lots of runs, their pitchers give up a ton. Last night was of the former variety. The offense drew one walk to striking out 11 times and were 0 for 3 with RISP. Samuel Hiciano came into the game to pinch-hit for Biter and hit his 2nd HR of the season.
