Today's Probables:

LHV: Alec Asher
REA: Nick Pivetta
CLR: Matt Imhof
LWD: Tyler Gilbert

Syracuse 5, Lehigh Valley 4

Mark Appel - 5.2 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 6 K, 5 GB, 2 FB
James Russell - 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB
Severino Gonzalez - 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, K, WP
Edward Mujica - 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, K
Taylor Featherston - 2 for 5, R, 3B, RBI, K
Nick Williams - 2 for 5, K (fielding error)
Darin Ruf - 2 for 5, HR, K
Brock Stassi - 1 for 5, K
Darnell Sweeney - 1 for 4, BB
Logan Moore - 2 for 4, 3B, K
Carlos Alonso - 1 for 3, R, BB, SB
Cam Perkins - 1 for 1, R (pinch hitter)

Mark Appel was doing really well until he gave up all 3 of his runs in the 6th inning to tie the game up. This came from a combination of two walks, two singles and a groundout. Taylor Featherston would put the IronPigs back ahead in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single. Sadly, Syracuse would tie the game up again and then take the lead in the top of the 9th via Mujica's third loss of the season.

Clearwater 8, St. Lucie 5

Tom Eshelman - 4 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 5 K, WP, 5 GB, 2 FB
Victor Arano - 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R
Ulises Joaquin - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K
Scott Kingery - 1 for 5, CS
Carlos Tocci - 3 for 5, HR, 2 RBI, 2 K
Cody Asche - 0 for 5, 2 K
Andrew Pullin - 0 for 4, K
Zach Green - 4 for 4, 3 R, 2B, HR
Kyle Martin - 2 for 3, 2 R, 2B, BB
Gabriel Lino - 1 for 4, 2B, 3 RBI
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 4, 2 R, K, SB (fielding error)
Cord Sandberg - 2 for 4, RBI, 2 CS

Tom Eshelman has had an interesting start to the season. He holds a 39:9 K/BB ratio in 39.2 innings this season. However, he has also allowed 36 hits (5 HR) and 18 earned runs. His ERA/WHIP has gone up in 5 straight starts now. Carlos Tocci has quietly been very good of late. On top of hitting his 1st HR of the season, he is batting .302/.348/.442 in his last 10 games (43 at-bats). Zach Green mashed his 5th HR last night as well and raised his season line to .280/.338/.475 in 118 at-bats.

Hagerstown 12, Lakewood 9

Jose Tavares - 5 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 5 K, 2 HR, WP, 8 GB, 3 FB
Alejandro Arteaga - 0.1 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 2 ER
Jacob Waguespack - 1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, K, WP
Sutter McLoughlin - 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, BB, K, WP
Emmanuel Marrero - 2 for 4, R, 2B, RBI, BB, K, picked off
Josh Tobias - 2 for 4, 2 R, HR, BB (throwing error)
Wilson Garcia - 2 for 5, 2 R, K
Jose Pujols - 1 for 5
Damek Tomscha - 2 for 5, R, 2B, 3 RBI, K
Deivi Grullon - 1 for 3, R, RBI, 2 BB, K (missed catch and pickoff errors)
Jan Hernandez - 1 for 4, R, 2B, 2 RBI, K
Jiandido Tromp - 1 for 4, R, 2B, 2 RBI, K
Carlos Duran - 1 for 4, 3 K

After a brilliant start last week (7 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 5 K), Jose Tavares took a step back. The most damage came via two 2-run HR in the 2nd and 4th innings. Lakewood put up all 9 of their runs through the 4th inning and held a 9-6 advantage. Arteaga and Waguespack allowed 3 runs each in the 6th and 7th innings to relinquish the lead. Josh Tobias really needs to be in High-A ball. He hit his 4th HR of the season and is slashing .320/.423/.496 in 125 at-bats. Right now you need to root for Kingery to break out in Clearwater to begin knocking on the door for Reading.
