Pawtucket 2, Lehigh Valley 1

Zach Eflin - 7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, BB, 6 K, WP, 8 GB, 4 FB
Frank Herrmann - 1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, K, HR
J.P. Crawford - 0 for 3, BB, K
Nick Williams - 1 for 4, 2B, 2 K
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 4, CS
Cam Perkins - 1 for 3, HR, BB, K
Darnell Sweeney - 0 for 4, K
Carlos Alonso - 1 for 3, 2B

I had no idea before this game that a Frank Herrmann existed and now I'm angry. It was a wasted effort by both Frankie and the offense in Zach Eflin's excellent outing. In his last 21 innings, Eflin has given up just 10 hits, 1 earned run, 3 walks and stuck out 17. Eflin is really, really close to being MLB ready. The offense went 0 for 6 with RISP and left 7 on base. Cam Perkins' long-ball was his 2nd of the season and he is now slashing .305/.333/.448 in 105 at-bats. J.P. Crawford is just 2 for 11 in his first 4 games (with 4 walks to 2 strikeouts).

Reading 11, Erie 9

Ricardo Pinto - 6 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, BB, 2 K, 3 HR, HBP, 11 GB, 1 FB
Miguel Nunez - 0.2 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 0 ER, BB
Hoby Milner - 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Roman Quinn - 4 for 4, 4 R, BB, 2 SB, picked off
Cody Asche - 2 for 5, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI, 2 K
Jorge Alfaro - 1 for 4, R, RBI, K
Dylan Cozens - 2 for 4, 3 R, 2B, HR, 3 RBI, BB, K
Rhys Hoskins - 1 for 5, HR, 4 RBI, K
Angelo Mora - 1 for 3, BB
Jesmuel Valentin - 1 for 4 (throwing error)

Make that back-to-back poor outings for Pinto (11 IP, 14 H, 11 ER, 6 HR, 2 BB, 7 K). These types of struggles lead me to believe that something isn't right and an injury could be the cause. We'll have to wait and see. Thankfully, the offense battled back slowly throughout the game to a dramatic finish. Rhys Hoskins was the hero, with a walk-off grandslam in the bottom of the 9th inning, his 8th HR of the season. Dylan Cozens hit his 12th HR of the year in the 7th, a 2-run blast to left field. Roman Quinn with quite possibly one of his best games at the plate, made it on base in each of his appearances. His two stolen bases were 20 and 21, just 1 off from the Eastern League lead.

Brevard County 6, Clearwater 4

Shane Watson - 5 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 9 K, 5 GB, 1 FB
Matt Hockenberry - 2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, K
Joey Denato - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K
Scott Kingery - 3 for 5, R, 2 2B, RBI, K (fielding error)
Andrew Pullin - 2 for 5, R, 2B, K
Carlos Tocci - 1 for 3, R, RBI, 2 BB
Kyle Martin - 1 for 5, RBI, 2 K
Zach Green - 1 for 2, RBI, HBP
Mitch Walding - 2 for 3, 2B, BB
Gabriel Lino - 1 for 4, K (throwing error)
Cord Sandberg - 0 for 4
Malquin Canelo - 0 for 3, R, BB, K

This wasn't quite the High-A debut Shane Watson had in mind. Despite striking out a career-high 9 batters, he allowed a big 4-run inning in the 5th to give the Manatees an imposing 5-0 lead. The offense went 2 for 14 with RISP and left 9 on base. Kingery had two doubles in the game, his 15th and 16th of the season, which leads the Florida State League.

Hagerstown 3, Lakewood 0

Tyler Gilbert - 6 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, 2 K, 9 GB, 5 FB
Zach Morris - 2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 K
Sutter McLoughlin - 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Emmanuel Marrero - 0 for 4, K (fielding error)
Carlos Duran - 0 for 3, BB, 2 K
Josh Tobias - 1 for 4, 2B
Jose Pujols - 0 for 4, 2 K
Wilson Garcia - 1 for 3
Deivi Grullon - 1 for 3
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 3, K
Brendon Hayden - 0 for 3
Jiandido Tromp - 1 for 3 (outfield assist, 3B)

Tyler Gilbert was roughed up for his 5th loss of the season, but in two of those losses he gave up only 2 runs a piece. Gilbert now has a string of 4 consecutive quality starts (in which his record is 1-3). The Lakewood offense has been absolutely inconsistent all season long (partly due to the absence of Cornelius Randolph). Last night it was on display again, with only 2 runners even reaching 2nd base.
