Phillies Minor League Roundup - June 15, 2016

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Today's Probables:

LHV: Jake Thompson
REA: Mark Leiter
CLR: John Richy
LWD: Drew Anderson

Lehigh Valley 7, Gwinnett 5

Anthony Vasquez - 4.1 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 2 K, HR, HBP, 6 GB, 2 FB
Edubray Ramos - 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K
J.P. Crawford - 3 for 3, 2 R, 2 2B, BB, SB
Andrew Knapp - 1 for 3, 2 R, RBI, BB, K
Brock Stassi - 3 for 4, R, 2B, RBI
Cam Perkins - 0 for 3, BB

Anthony Vasquez makes his 2016 AAA debut, but struggles unfortunately. Thankfully, the IronPig offense scored 7 runs across their first 4 innings of work. J.P. Crawford gets his first multi-hit game since June 3. During his current 4-game hitting streak his average is slowly creeping back up to the Mendoza line. There is no need to worry about Crawford at this point. Andrew Knapp is quietly hitting .325 during his last 10 games (40 at-bats).

Reading 5, Hartford 4 (10 innings)

Tyler Viza - 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB, 3 K, HR, 10 GB, 2 FB
Joely Rodriguez - 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 K
Miguel Nunez - 1.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 K
Hoby Milner - 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R
Jesmuel Valentin - 2 for 4, 2 R, HR, BB, K
Jorge Alfaro - 1 for 4, 3 K
Dylan Cozens - 2 for 4, RBI, 2 K, picked off
Rhys Hoskins - 0 for 3, RBI, BB (fielding error)
Angelo Mora - 0 for 4, 2 K
Aaron Brown - 0 for 4, 2 K
Harold Martinez - 1 for 1, HR

Can they be stopped? Seriously? That makes 4 quality starts in a row for Mr. Viza (2 in CLR, 2 in REA). Harold Martinez gave the Fightin's a 4-3 lead in the 7th inning with a pinch-hit HR, his 4th of the season. The run was much needed as Miguel Nunez gave up the tying run in the bottom of the 9th to send the game to extras. It didn't take long to conclude though as Jesmuel Valentin blasted his 3rd HR in the top of the 10th. Nunez and Milner then would combine for a scoreless bottom of the 10th to close it out.

Bradenton 9, Clearwater 7

Shane Watson - 3 IP, 11 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, HR, 1 GB, 2 FB
Joey Denato - 2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, HR
Matt Imhof - 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 K
Matt Hockenberry - 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 K
Carlos Tocci - 3 for 4, R, BB, K (fielding error and outfield assist, 2B)
Andrew Pullin - 2 for 5, HR
Scott Kingery - 0 for 5, R, RBI, K, SB
Mitch Walding - 0 for 4, R, BB, 3 K
Zach Green - 3 for 5, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI, K
Gabriel Lino - 0 for 4, 3 K
Chace Numata - 1 for 1 (pinch hitter)
Malquin Canelo - 1 for 4, BB
Samuel Hiciano - 2 for 5, R, 2B, RBI, K
Cord Sandberg - 0 for 3, 2 K, HBP

Things haven't been great for Shane Watson since his promotion to the FSL as he sports an ugly 8.66 ERA in 4 starts (17.2 IP, 29 H, 17 ER, 11 BB, 18 K). There are few outing in which you can win a game when the opposing team tallies 18 hits on the day, though the Threshers came close. Down 9-3 in the bottom of the 9th they were able to plate 4 runs while batting around. They left the bases loaded to end the game. Andrew Pullin hit his 4th HR, while Zach Green got his 7th on the season. Kingery's stolen base was his 15th.

Hagerstown 6, Lakewood 5

Franklyn Kilome - 4 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, 6 GB, 3 FB
Skylar Hunter - 2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER
Sutter McLoughlin - 1.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, BB, 2 K, WP
Zach Morris - 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, K
Grenny Cumana - 2 for 4, 3 R, HR, BB (throwing error)
Jiandido Tromp - 2 for 4, R, BB, K
Damek Tomscha - 2 for 4, 2 RBI, BB
Deivi Grullon - 1 for 4, RBI, BB
Jose Pujols - 0 for 4, K
Jan Hernandez - 0 for 4, 2 K (2 throwing and 1 fielding error)
Brendon Hayden - 1 for 3, 3B, BB
Emmanuel Marrero - 1 for 4, R, K
Carlos Duran - 0 for 4, 2 K

Franklyn Kilome's streak comes to an end with his first poor outing since April 19th. The bullpen also did the offense no favors with tacking on 3 additional runs. A pitcher actually allowed a HR to Grenny Cumana in this game (a solo shot in the 9th inning). I'd be very worried about that pitcher's well-being. Jiandido Tromp hot-streak update, in June he is batting .340/.411/.800 with 5 HR and 2 SB in 56 plate appearances.
