Jake Thompson has been very good as of late, only allowing 1 earned run in his last 3 starts (21 IP). Despite the effort last night, it had to go into extra innings. With 2 outs and the bases loaded, Andrew Knapp hit a single to score Emmanuel Burriss to win the game in the bottom of the 11th. Knapp is batting .317 in his last 10 games. J.P. Crawford now has a 5-game hitting streak.

Mark Leiter improved to 3-0 in Reading after struggling in his last start. Reading was down 3-0 before entering the 4th inning. Jesmuel Valentin got the 3-run inning started with a solo blast, his 4th HR of the season and second in as many games. Valentin is certainly knocking on the door for a AAA call-up. With a hit and walk yesterday Dylan Cozens improved his season line to .294/.371/.595 in 252 at-bats.

John Richy was demoted back to Clearwater after a fairly disastrous AA campaign. He wasn't terrible last night, but still picked up his 2nd loss with Clearwater. The Thresher offense combined for only 4 hits and struck out 15 times. Carlos Tocci stole his 10th base.
Lakewood 5, Kannapolis 4
Drew Anderson - 6 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 K, HR, 7 GB, 6 FB
Edgar Garcia - 3 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 K, WP

Brendon Hayden - 2 for 3, RBI, BB, CS
Carlos Duran - 1 for 4, R, 2B, RBI, K
Emmanuel Marrero - 1 for 3, 2 K
Drew Anderson strikes out a season-low 2 batters, but allows no walks for the first time. It's only been 5 starts, but Anderson could very well work his way into the Clearwater lineup this summer. Zachary Coppola doesn't miss a beat since coming back from the DL. He is 5 for 14 since his return. Tromp extends his hitting streak to 11 games.
